I don't think that you'll find many folks, other than the hardcores, that will disagree with you.

That said, she does represent the company, even when not in the office (we all do) and poking a stick at the company's biggest client (and possibly only one), you take one helluva chance at repercussions

I don't think you should be fired for expressing their feelings toward anyone, especially an elected official. Imagine if Climate Barbie started calling our places of employment and demanding we be terminated.

She could have told her employer she was just sticking her finger in the air to determine the wind direction. :)

I agree.. You won't get an argument out of me on what should be.... Unfortunately, we are talking about what is, and although not fair, it is what it is.

On a happier note, I expect that she will either get her job back (too much social outrage), possibly get hired on by a competitor that doesn't support Trump, or, stands a good chance at a wrongful dismissal suit.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean a company has to keep you employed if they don't like you.

Though they do need have good reason to show that your actions would negatively affect the company.

Let's be honest - if Trump visited Canada and that happened here that person would get a promotion.

The concept of 'free speech' does not mean you have protection from the consequences of what you say. Never did mean that, nobody with any sense thinks that it does mean it.

No they don't. They can fire you for absolutely no reason at all. THey may have to pay you severance, but there's no law requiring an employer to keep an employee that they don't like.

Only if you work for a political party.
