Steve Bannon 'thinks Trump only has a 30% chance of serving a full term'

Donald Trump’s former senior aide Steve Bannon thinks the President only has a 30 per cent chance of staying in office for a full term in what insiders have said is a White House in turmoil.

Mr Bannon warned Mr Trump about the 25th amendment to the US Constitution, the rule that would allow the Cabinet to vote him out of office under specific circumstances related to how the president's health - physical or mental - impairs their ability to perform the duties of the office.

According to Vanity Fair, Mr Trump’s response was: “What’s that?"

Mr Bannon, who has since returned to the helm of Breitbart News, reportedly told the President his own Cabinet was more of a threat than impeachment by Congress.

The revelation about Mr Bannon, who has been linked with white supremacist views in the past, comes on the heels of a stunning New York Times interview with Senator Bob Corker.

The prominent Republican made the comment that the White House has transformed into an “adult day care” and Mr Trump is the child.

Steve Bannon says he is launching war on the Republican establishment

Vanity Fair reported that sources within the White House have said the president is “unravelling”.

According to the magazine, Mr Trump has been in increasingly “dark moods” and told security adviser Keith Schiller: “I hate everyone in the White House! There are a few exceptions, but I hate them!”

These are the outfits that need mental health evaluations. They've been trying to undo the will of the American people ever since he was elected.

Buncha sucks! My horse didn't win, so Trump must be mentally ill!!

Screw off.

"The will of the American people" is hovering below 30% of the American people and it was never very high to begin with. It's more like a criminal is trying to hijack America using some synthetic "will of the American people" to perpetrate the con.

CC,

So what? Approval ratings go up and down while in Office. What's Trudeau's approval rating at?

And why are you liking Trump to a criminal?

Trump defrauded investors and subcontractors of hundreds of millions of dollars over the years. There is a mile-long parade of litigants behind him.

There is the looming Russia, thing, as well. The worst case scenario is that he sold out his country to a major military adversary in exchange for"services rendered". This is still burbling away in the background and it is not going away.If there is a case, the investigators are making it air tight considering the seriousness of the allegations. It would have been gone ... dismissed ... admitted to be a mistake by now if it were't still a possibility. It still has legs a year in and it is still very possible that Trump is a traitor.

It's probably true or Walter wouldn't have given the post a reddy.

Trump could join your forum, assuming he is functional.

That’s what he says today. After he left he said similar things but then went on to promote Trump and talk about how great things were going. Hard to take anything he says seriously when he changes his tune so often.

Despite the image of chaos being broadcast by news outlets like the NYT, CNN, Washington Post, NBC.. there has been a clear progression of steps advancing Trump's agenda. These include ditching the TPP, initiating renegotiation of NAFTA, placing Neil Gorsuch on the USSC, withdrawing from the Paris Accord, plans for major infrastructure investment, a rational reestablishment of coherent border controls and immigration policy, and implementing the right for employers to withdraw from providing contaceptives and abortifacients in health care plans on the basis of conscience.

Certainly there have been very questionable developments as well. Notably in plans to deregulate the financial industry (always as disaster), tax reform that reinforces the regressive taxation policies of the last 35 years, and a foreign policy that lacks a cohesive focussed nationalism. I blame this on the Raeganite neoconservative baggage that still runs the Republican Establishment. That is based on free trade, monetarism, privatization, deregulation, regressive taxation, colonialism, multiculturalism, moral relativism, radical individualism.. and a foreign policy that places the welfare of Israel above all else (a legacy of Evangelical Prophecies regarding Israel and the Second Coming).

But the 25th Amendment is really for situations where the President has become incapacitated, as happened with Woodrow Wilson as a result of a stroke. Or perhaps when a sitting President has completely lost his reason. Trump isn't close to that and there is no prospect of it being invoked. Bannon is just withdrawing into his conspiracy theories.

Trump is there till the end of his term. And my guess is will be elected to a second, simply because the Democrats are unable to offer anything but amoral New Age race and gender politics; AGW hysteria, and laissez faire economic liberalism and have lost the ear and the confidence of the majority of the electorate. Trump's iconoclastic character, which can be misinterpreted as irrationality, is in fact, appealing to voters. He's crazy like a fox.
