The US gets extra duty money and it hurts them???? Who is the stupid one??

True, the US suffers less from it than Canada does since at least it's the US that collects the tax. If Canada must engage the US in a trade war, I'd propose a flat Canadian export tax of XUSD/KG and XUSD/KW. If the US wants to keep our products out, then we might as well be collecting that tax.

...but it was okay for Boeing to dump 707's all over the world to kill foreign aircraft industries

That's a different matter. Canada never should have subsidized Bombardier. Even from a socialist standpoint, had Bombardier moved to a poorer country with a skilled and educated workforce, that could have helped it to distribute wealth to those countries. By making average Canadians pay taxes to subsidize rich CEOs to discourage them from moving their business to a poorer place stinks on every moral front.

What's different? Who made up for less-than-cost American airliners flying British banners? How many Saabs fly into Pearson?

The only thing different is my-shit-don't stink got a whiff of its own cess pool

Let's impose the same tariffs on all of the Boeing products. There is nothing that Boeing makes that Airbus doesn't also make.

The Americans susupidized Boeing, Lougheed, Mc Douglas and all the others in spades, over the years. There are airplane graveyards out in the desert full of thousands of NEVER FLOWN, NEVER USED airplanes ... literally thousands of them, all paid for by the public purse.. If that isn't a subsidy ...

This is just one more example of the usual bullshyte American Entitlement.

That is Bombardier's only reason to exist. To create good pay cheques for otherwise unemployable machinists in Quebec.

It's just Quebec, is it? Theresa May was sure trying hard to hold on to those 5000 jobs at Bombardier's Short Brothers subsidiary in Belfast ... particularly considering that the keys to her coalition government are held by ten Northern Ireland seats.

Ontario companies get whacked too as do all sorts of American subcontractors. Canada isn't grown up enough to do high tech things like make aircraft, it would seem. Every other country that does subsidized that industry up the yinyang, morning noon and night but us paroquial Canadians behave like Calvanist beancounters all the while complaining about them Frenchees..

You're kind of a dumbo, I don't think anybody cares about your stupid proposals.

It will be interesting if, while trying to kill off Bombardier, the Yanks cause Theresa May's government to fall ... after all of the mewling and grovelling back there in London and the near DEMAND for Donald and Melania to see the Queen. There is a direct link between those thousands on Bombardier jobs in Belfast and May's future.

Looks like Boeing is out of luck in its sale of aircraft to Canada. There are lots of other manufacturers who build warplanes.
