...for hijacking the Rainbow symbol.

My young daughter loves rainbow colors, but she just told me she won't be wearing them on her school bag because the other kids will think she's a lesbian.

Thanks a bunch for corrupting the mind of an innocent young girl. I hope your organization is thrilled with this accomplishment.

They also hijacked the word "GAY". I'm just old enough to remember when that word had a different meaning..

It still has another meaning even today, except that it's now a secondary meaning that risks being misunderstood for the more common one. Good for punning though. I use it all the time in puns just to confuse people.

Well, she can always put a swastika on her bag, because our white right constantly assures us it's a symbol of peace and harmony.

The swastika is a good luck symbol that the Nazis hijacked.

Now I don't care enough about the swastika. But if I did, I'd wear it according to its traditional significance just to stick it to the Nazis.

Sorry to displease, but I don't care enough about the rainbow either.

How the swastika was meant to be worn:

I suppose it was a teachable moment...

But I just figured this time...'Bah! Screw it! My daughter has a right to be pissed off.'

As for Nazis, I wonder if they'd get the hint if Whites all started to wear armbands with their religious symbols on them.

Yeah, the corruption is in your mind. If you're that scared of rainbows, you need to kill yourself.

I have a couple of old Newfoundland stamps that have swastikas on them, and in the 1980s, the corporate logo for Potash Company of America was an indian head with a swastika on it.

and if they did, what is the big deal? Is she, or you, ashamed of that possibility?

Exactly. A rainbow's a rainbow.

I remember a friend telling me how one winter, his mother decided to put up a red light bulb on the front porch for two reasons:

1. She liked the colour red (though that was the secondary reason), and

2. So her son could find his way home among rows of townhouses that all looked alike.

She was unaware of any meaning attributed to a red light bulb on a front porch. When her husband got home, he was embarrassed and infuriated, but once he realized the neighbours had accepted it with humour, he mellowed out and accepted it with equal humour.

The point is, different things mean different things to different people. If a person likes rainbows but doesn't care for its association with the LGBT movement, then he's free to use it for his purposes. Just as prostitutes don't hold a exclusive rights to red light bulbs, the LGBT community does not hold exclusive rights to rainbows and Nazis don't hold a monopoly on swastikas.

The Rainbow is for everyone...just like fried chicken and watermelon. You don't see The Black Lives Matter movement using these symbols do you?
