How about if you're able-bodied and of sound mind and you haven't worked in over a year...you forfeit your right to vote.

This would stop the shiftless parasites in this country from electing disastrous governments like the Wynne administration.

Thoughts?

A better system would be to allot voting points based on how much income tax you pay up to a certain limit (we don't want the 0.1% owning more politicians than they already do). If you pay no income tax you get no vote. After that, you get one vote for every $1000 of income tax you pay up to, say, $100,000. So a guy who paid $1000 gets one vote, a guy who paid $100,000 gets one hundred votes. A guy who paid a million still gets one hundred votes.

What are politicians for anyway but to decide on how taxpayer money is spent? Maybe only taxpayers should get to vote on them.

Maybe the more income you have, the less your vote counts - considering the rich only want to suck cash from everything - just as fair if you figure where the voter apathy ballot counts....

Why the limit? If it is acceptable for someone who pays 50K in tax to get twice the votes of someone who pays 25K, what's wrong with someone who pays a million in taxes getting 20 times the vote of someone paying 50K?

Other than that, your proposal is rather similar to my "selling votes" plan. I like mine better, though, because they could reduce taxes, and anybody who wants to vote has to put some skin in the game.

No, no! It's the POOR who just want to suck unearned cash! Rich people are morally superior, cuz they're rich!

How is it 'just as fair' to have people who contribute nothing to the tax base be the ones in charge of deciding how to spend it?

The shoe really pinches when it's on the other foot doesn't it?

Do you propose taking the vote from disabled vets and workers too - most of whom have paid their dues and now have to get by on *ahem* generous *ahem* assistance to stay below your sainted dividing line.

Greedy much?

Hell, yes! Damn parasites! You know what WWI vets got when they returned? A handshake and a slap on the back. End of.

So, paying taxes is the only activity that benefits society?
