Trump floats canceling White House press briefings

President Trump defended on Friday morning the slew of contradictions in the White House's account of FBI Director James Comey's firing, suggesting he might cancel "all future 'press briefings'" in the name of accuracy.

"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!" Trump tweeted.

Prominent inconsistencies emerged in the White House's version of Comey's ouster on Tuesday evening. Trump and his team first said the FBI director was fired after the recommendation of the attorney general and his deputy, but the president himself contradicted that version only a day later.

"I was going to fire regardless of the recommendation," Trump told NBC News's Lester Holt.

Trump’s account on Thursday not only ran counter to his letter, but to the narrative recounted by Vice President Pence and White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders, both of whom sought to portray Comey’s ouster as a carefully made decision rooted in the Justice Department’s recommendation.

Sanders also claimed Wednesday that Comey had lost the faith of the rank-and-file FBI, and that the agency's probe into Russian election meddling was a minor matter, claims that were both contradicted by congressional testimony from new acting FBI chief Andrew McCabe.

Sanders on Thursday acknowledged that she had briefed reporters on Comey’s firing at the White House a day earlier using incomplete information. But she insisted that the administration’s account of the episode has remained consistent, despite a number of contradictions.

"If you want to talk about people in the dark, our story is consistent," she said. "The people that are in the dark today are the Democrats."

Might be a good idea considering how utterly incompetent Sean Spicer is and how Trump and the rest of his administration can't get their shit together enough to actually have one message.

It won't work though. Any written statement would be immediately contradicted by Trump on Twitter or when he's being flattered in some puffpiece interview. They'd be better off using written statements only and preventing Trump from ever speaking. Trump has no idea what's going on and he doesn't do any work, so why bother asking him?

Remember Sean Spicer is told what to say he is not the writer of the message
Worst thing Trump can do it would lead to speculation by people who don't like
him The other side of the coin the media is getting distortions of the truth from
the source and can only speculate as to the origins of truth.
The President is insane America is on the edge of a political nervous breakdown
because the Republican Congress and Senate are afraid to act

Let me fix that for you .
The news media are going insane and are on the verge of a breakdown due to Trump winning the White House .

America went against the wishes of their betters by ignoring the marching orders from the media , and they cannot let it go .
Funny the Democrats are loosing their grip on power throughout the country and they sure are crying about it .
Despite countless billions of dollars in advertising and almost total media domination the country is turning its back on the democratic party , and it sure is a joy to watch .

How's that Grumpy , sound about right ?

The Dumpster is beginning to resemble Nixon more and more. For the last couple of years of his presidency Nixon shut himself up in the White House, refusing almost all interviews. The Dumpster isn't even four months into his presidency and is threatening the same.

That's it, eh? That's the plan? The Trump Presidency is a HOAX, meant to be a practical joke? Trump should be shot by a firing squad for holding the fragile democracy of the United States in such contempt.

Well that would be a first. I didn't think trolling sensitive snowflakes was a impeachable offence :laughing3:

Quote of the Goddamn Century: Why Conservatives Continue to Defend Trump

If ever there was a quote summarizing why otherwise intelligent people defend Donald Trump -- this is it.

Charles J Sykes in The New York Times summarizes the right's defense of Trump so perfectly it should be engraved in diamonds:
As the right doubles down on anti-anti-Trumpism, it will find itself goaded into defending and rationalizing ever more outrageous conduct just as long as it annoys CNN and the left.
This is something I've struggled to articulate for a while now -- the willful ignorance of otherwise (somewhat) intelligent people defending what is now clearly a state of emergency. Continues Sykes:
For the anti-anti-Trump pundit, whatever the allegation against Mr. Trump, whatever his blunders or foibles, the other side is always worse.

It's wonderful the way Trump has maneuvered the press briefings so that we do not see the press faces.

No, sensitive snowflakes are going to his rallies.

You know the three main characteristics of a snowflake, don't you?

1. White.

2. Fragile.

3. They say they're all unique, but they all look the same.
