Remember full service gas stations? A car pulls up and out of the station spring four uniformed attendants who not only fill the tank, but check the tire pressure and oil and wash the car's windows. Not only that, but gas stations often gave away trinkets such as drinking glasses, toys, key chains, calendars, trading stamps and even road maps.

Discussion Questions: Would you like to see full-service stations return? We're you ever taken advantage of at a full-service station? Did you or your family travel while you were growing up, if so what kind of places did you visit?

Full service stations are a great idea. Very often in the past, young people started their work careers in them where they learned valuable jobs skills, dealing with people, and earned money to finance their education. This would work just as readily today (and the uniformed attendant is especially good). I would add that today they should wear safety masks to prevent inhalation of certain fumes and gloves to avert benzene contamination. The stations should also distribute Green Stamps. Just as farms and oil companies are subsidized, certain low income people such as retirees or disabled should qualify for a subsidization program where they can buy gas or other services as a reduced rate. This would stimulate further consumption and purchase of services which, in turn, increase production of sales and excise taxes.

A half mask respirator would be overkill but i agree with the gloves though...

Desegregation, voting rights and equality for all Americans...





But of course you'll take a nice thread that was about 50's Gas Stations and troll the crap out it, into something ugly like you always do.
