OK, here's a hard fact. Slavery is a legal status. If a slave escapes, the slave's owner has the right to recapture the slave and to seek the assistance of the government in so doing.
Since you're so sure there are slaves in the U.S., can you give me any examples of a slave being returned to his or her master by the government after escaping?
