huh, interesting. Thoughts?

Steve Bannon — President Trump’s chief White House advisor — just made a very revealing statement while addressing right-wing activists.

The overall theme of Bannon’s speech was “deconstruction of the administrative state,” when taking into account the policies he is pursuing. He also told the audience that Trump’s cabinet appointees “were selected for a reason, and that is deconstruction.”

Bannon’s remarks help give context to President Trump appointing ideological enemies of certain federal agencies to then lead those same agencies. Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt was recently confirmed as EPA administrator despite suing the EPA 14 times over environmental regulations, usually on behalf of oil companies. On his own LinkedIn, Pruitt describes himself as a “leading advocate against the EPA’s activist agenda.”

The statement also explains why Trump appointed former Goldman Sachs executives Steve Mnuchin to head the U.S. Treasury and Jay Clayton to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mnuchin is an avowed opponent of financial regulations, and pledged to repeal them as Treasury chief. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson has called for the defunding of public housing, and former Texas Governor Rick Perry, who now heads the Department of Energy, couldn’t even remember its name while calling it for it to be abolished during a presidential debate.

Betsy DeVos was appointed Secretary of Education without having any experience in public schools, and stating that she wanted to force public schools to teach Christian dogma. Even Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is purging the State Department of longtime staff, including senior-level officials, suggesting American foreign policy may soon take a “deconstruction” approach.

However, coverage of Bannon’s CPAC speech mainly focused on Bannon characterizing the news media as “the opposition party” and encouraging everyone listening to distrust anything negative the media reported about Trump.

“If you look at the opposition party and how they portrayed the campaign and how they portrayed the transition and how they portray the administration, it’s always wrong,” Bannon said.

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, who shared the stage with Bannon, condoned Bannon’s comments about the media and gave some of his own, telling CPAC attendees to disavow “everything that you’re reading” about stories of turmoil inside the White House.

“Just like they were dead wrong on the chaos of the campaign and just like they were dead wrong on the chaos of the transition, they are absolutely dead wrong on what they’re reporting today,” Bannon added.

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is an annual retreat aimed at the Republican Party’s most fervent supporters and diehard activists.

Good to know they are on track to fix the dysfunctional government.

Fix or simply change by adhoc

This quote seems rather backward wouldn't you say?:
Betsy DeVos was appointed Secretary of Education without having any experience in public schools, and stating that she wanted to force public schools to teach Christian dogma

She does this and every religious group is going to demand equal representation in the schools.

That's going to be quite the mess.

She was appointed to drive the unionized teachers nuts.

Trump doesn't like unions? of course not, bad for his bank account.

Well, sounds like she has an agenda of her own...

Less than half the teachers in the US are unionize and that # is dropping. Taxslave represents exactly the problem with Trumpites. They focus all their energy on fake problems simply because it's their pet peeve

That's going to be quite the mess.

She was appointed to dismantle the public school system and replace it with institutions run by for-profit charters and taxpayer-funded vouchers. She already has decades of doing just that to Michigan's school system resulting in scores of them ranking at the very bottom for academic performance.

"DeVos isn’t an educator, or an education leader. She’s not an expert in pedagogy or curriculum or school governance. In fact, she has no relevant credentials or experience for a job setting standards and guiding dollars for the nation’s public schools."

Here's a look at what her policies did for Michigan.

"She is, in essence, a lobbyist — someone who has used her extraordinary wealth to influence the conversation about education reform, and to bend that conversation to her ideological convictions despite the dearth of evidence supporting them."

"Largely as a result of the DeVos’ lobbying, Michigan tolerates more low-performing charter schools than just about any other state. And it lacks any effective mechanism for shutting down, or even improving, failing charters.

We’re a laughingstock in national education circles, and a pariah among reputable charter school operators, who have not opened schools in Detroit because of the wild West nature of the educational landscape here.

In Michigan, just about anyone can open a charter school if they can raise the money. That’s not so in most other states, where proven track records are required.

In other states, poor performers are subject to improvement efforts, or sometimes closed. By contrast, once a school opens in Michigan, it’s free to operate for as long as it wants, and is seldom held accountable by state officials for its performance. Authorizers, often universities, oversee operation according to whatever loose standards they choose.

And in Michigan, you can operate a charter for profit, so even schools that fail academically are worth keeping open because they can make money. Michigan leads the nation in the number of schools operated for profit, while other states have moved to curb the expansion of for-profit charters, or banned them outright."

Good luck to those states hoping to ban these types of schools - and I use that term very loosely - they'll have a long row to hoe with this creature.

Looks like the Dumpster and his appointees might want to look at the US Constitution. Much of what they advocate is in violation of that document. As for the rest anything that is changed will be restored after 2018 when the Dumpster becomes a lame duck.
