No, I get it. When you burn half the world's annual coal supply, it's nothing to brag about. He doesn't understand the fact that they are in transition - and beating us at it.
No, I get it. When you burn half the world's annual coal supply, it's nothing to brag about.
The simple fact is, in 2015 China still derived 73% of its power from coal. Canada's TOTAL fossil fuel power generation capacity is about 20%. Oh, and Canada's numbers are from 2010 as opposed to China where the numbers are for 2015.
So China; 78% of its power generation derived by coal. Canada; 20% of its power generation is derived by fossil fuels of all types. Tell me again how China is beating us at this?
I am afraid MF is right. You just don't get it. The entire point of turning to energy sources that don't pollute is to reduce coal and oil consumption. What is there that you don't get about that? And BTW Canada is not the US. The comparison was made to the US, a nation that has very high fossil fuel consumption.
Lots of that coal comes from B.C. and Alberta . BTWWhat MF doesn't seem to get is China is not doing that. They are increasing their coal consumption and producing a vast majority of the worlds CO2 emissions. He is praising them for their initiative.
