Canada is not a Nation. It's not a unitary country. It is a federation founded by 2 nations.
Unfortunately, the indiens peoples have been shamefully discarded.
Do you really think that english is the same all over the world ? You never been to Texas, North Carolina or Louisianna to beleive that !
That's why I'm thinking of brushing up my Spanish because at one point many years ago I was pretty advanced in it.
It would make sense to be honest. If I was fluent in English and Spanish id be able to communicate with more people than I would if I knew French.
Having been to both Quebec and Mexico id have to say that honestly, Spanish people are more respectful than French from Quebec. The warm reception I received while being in Mexico made me enthusiastic to learn Spanish as opposed to the cold shoulders French speakers give me. That and because of Bill 101 I refuse to learn French because that bill in my opinion is the most ignorant thing I've seen.
You should learn about the canadian federation and the history a little bit ;-)
If you want to communicate with peoples that speak french, spanish will not help you. But, it's up to you. It's your choice.
I hope, at least, that people from Quebec have been better and more respectful than canadians for Quebecers in the ROC. I really hope. Just read this tread and you will understand what I am talking about ;-)

In sudbury there are French high schools and colleges. College boreal is one example.
Hospitals? You mean where they speak French only? English only? They don't exist because people get served in both languages... And the English majority doesn't care someone else gets served in French. Unlike in Quebec apparently.
exact opposite of what my old man experienced in Montreal. He spoke French, both the local of Northern Ontario and French Parisian, he was ignored or ridiculed. The vast majority acted as if they didn't understand a single word he was saying, no matter what dialect he used.

It,s not available everywhere.... but, yes, ROC made some improvement on this... symbolically at least.

yes... that's what I am talking about. Where all peoples speak french. Like english peoples have their own hospitals in Québec where it is mandatory to speak english for everybody and everything is in english, wall to wall.
I tested that... I never been served in french anywhere in ROC except if i want to wait for someone who speak french... wait for ever. Try it... just for fun. Try to be served in french. Same at Pearson....

And I'm glad you acknowledge that the ROC has made improvements while Quebec back tracks. Back tracks but expects more from Canada. And you wonder why Montreal was eclipsed by Toronto when it comes to commerce.
