Since she is obviously too busy to look after her brats let social services take them. This frees up the nannies for secretarial duty.

Oh for God's sake!

You people don't realize that she has no official standing. She doesn't get a salary. She does get bushels of requests for help every week. and she tries to answer every one. She probably needs to learn to say no.

Well im sure she has earned a skill set in life that would allow her to be employable in other avenues, no?

Come on. She's the wife of our prime minister. Do you not think she deserves a modicum of respect. You obviously don't like her husband, but what has she done to earn your ire?

Because she feels that she is more special even though she has no official capacity compared other regular Canadians who also have no official capacity. So she is technically no different from any of us but because she shares the same bed with Justin, she is automatically entitled to tax payer money?

Times are tough and to people struggling this is kinda a slap in the face....

She has a lot of help, but requires more because she is incapable of saying no....

Signs of a brat

You're right on the mark there #Juan!

As a wise man once said words to effect you can't increase your own stature by diminishing someone else's.

She's the same as Mila.......but the Liberals could change what the Conservatives did and have the PM pay for her outings.......

The young, fashionable wife of the prime minister is ramping up her public presence and building an office to match.

The opposition is in uproar over the costs and recall the “days of political wife as ornament.”

It’s 1985.

And the wife in question is Mila Mulroney. From her perfect coif to a fashion sense that drew comparisons to Princess Diana, Mulroney unwittingly courted controversy and gaga media attention throughout her eight years as the prime minister’s wife. A role that remains as ambiguous as it can be controversial.

“In the light of 2016,” Copps told the National Post this week, “they’re not really valid because I think the role has only grown, with public scrutiny and with the Internet. It’s so much easier today to get ahold of party leadership, to send an email asking Gregoire Trudeau to appear, and if she doesn’t respond to say, a children’s charity, that could become its own issue.”

‘The political wife as ornament’: Sophie Gregoire Trudeau’s bid for more staff revives old debate

Say, why not bring up Maggie Trudeau and the, ahhh, official duties she executed during her time?

Betcha she could have used a couple of nannies to help out when she was banging the band

Respect is earned. Asking for a taxpayer freebie when doing nothing official for work the rest of us have to pay for out of our own pockets is not a way to earn it. It is a way to lose it.

Also, you should be careful when editing quotes. If you remove the opening [ from the /qouote box, the quote gets messed up.

I think what might be helpful for all of is someone telling us what her itinerary is on a typical work day. I don't have an inkling about what if anything she does, so it's tough to comment further.

Because the 'frothy' outrage causing all those chins to turn a matching 'neck red' is hypocritical when we realize Mrs Mulroney did the same.

And you may have been too young to know this but Trudeau did have a nanny.

And what about the millions we waste each year on the Monarchy including the Office of the Governor General?

I can only wish that the frothers get as energized in defeating the TPP as they are about this mundane subject.......

She does NOT work for the Government of Canada. Any itinerary she has is HER and her hubby's own choosing. Perhaps if she can provide WTF she is doing for Canada (and not just the Lieberal Party of Canada), then her request should be considered. But IMHO she is doing sweet fruck all in that category.

.. And yet, there's only one person here defending Sophie.

Funny, non?

That is because there is no defense. Since the position is indefensibe, we have deflection "look a previous Conservative tried (and failed btw) to do something like this sometime in the distant past". Others are just indignant because we insulted the Lieberal brand and have labelled those pointing out the hypocracy as conbots. Bottom line is there is no defense particularly since this particular PM made childcare credits for rich people one of his hot button issues.

Fukk you A$$hole!

She does NOT work for the Government of Canada..

Does Michele work for the U.S. Gov't? What's her stipend?
P.S. MIchele's salary is zero, so on that basis I would say Sophie should get about the same! :)

I don't know. What the USA wastes their money on is their business.

Why are you defending this rich spoiled brat? Have you become a die hard Lieberal in your old age?

It's got nothing to do with my political sympathies, but more to do with the way to treat a human being. Why can't she just be told "NO" without all the name calling? I have no knowledge about her being a "rich spoiled brat" Does everyone have to be an oaf like Locutus? :)
