Bribery is the act of giving money, goods or other forms of recompense to a recipient in exchange for an alteration of their behavior (to the benefit/interest of the giver) that the recipient would otherwise not alter. Bribery is defined by Black's Law Dictionary as the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official or other person in charge of a public or legal duty.[1]

Well I wasn't addressing you, but seeing how you responded I'll ask.

How could Nigel Wright writing Duffy a cheque to pay back money be considered a bribe?

I think it's probably time we moved AHEAD with this subject- the trial is over and the amount of fault/blame attributable to Duffy, Harper and all others involved is now a moot point. Obviously the rules/regulations pertaining to senators was in shambles. Now is the time to start at square one writing an entire new law book on the matter so there is nothing in the future that lends itself to corruption. If a senator has on going duties in two places he needs two homes, otherwise he only needs one and while domiciled there shouldn't be collecting ANY living expenses. It's not rocket science! :)

Why did he write the cheque?

Two reasons. First, Duffy was told by the PMO to pay the money back. Duffy claimed not to have the money to cover the cost, so Wright wrote him a personal cheque to pay the money back.

It still doesn't answer my question. How is that bribery?

To help fix the bad public perception this scandal was creating in a time of election.

Nigel isn't a politician, does he really give a fiddler's f**k about public perception? A guy with his status would get a huge payout when the Gov't gets dumped at any rate!

Just stating the obvious.

Why do you think the conbots couldn't beat 'budgets balance themselves' Justine?

Because they were too stupid.

That's why they're called conbots.

Even a friggin judge recognized that lol
