He won because Canadians were duped into believing that Harper and his secret inner sanctum was becoming more and more inward and creepy, doing crazy sh!t like generating legislation that was going to suspend parts of our Bill of Rights.
Not sure what inward and creepy actually means, but... I mean I know what they mean, but didn't see any inward or creepy, just a lot of Chicken Little's.
By the way, inward means moving toward the center. Is that creepy?
Isn't that chick on the left from NCIS?
No, sorry. I don't buy it. The Conservatives gained and maintained power because Canadians had confidence that they were the best fiscasl managers available. That never came into question during the election and the Conservatives would have been able to continue in power based on their being good fiscal managers. It was Harper's personality, not promises from Justin that turned the tide. I'll bet that if you polled Canadians on the subject today, there would still be apprehension about the fiscal management of government but you would probably find that Canadians are very happy to see Harper's backside. The notion that the Liberals are in power because they're going to legalize pot smoking is just childish.
Anyway, the Canadian Conservative movement is going to have to figure out what is really happening if they want to re-gain power any time soon. They have historically had some difficulty in doing so and here we go, again.
Mature voters are not bought with a laundry of promises and goodies but "smell" can definitely change their minds.
... and no, "inward" means parochial, secretive, making national decisions in private without consultation and that was pretty much all that was left of our democracy. If democratic processes are from the "center" (as opposed to what? Augusto Pinotism?) We need to get back to the center WITH HASTE.
