They could not dump it. There were other alternatives, just not other cheap alternatives. But its only the environment.

Lol

No that's not the reason.

“If we do not allow this to go ahead and there was an unplanned discharge, the long-term impact to flora and fauna could be significantly more.”

Ottawa’s report, released Friday, said the planned dump could cause harm, but an unplanned release triggered by a possible system failure if the sewage system breaks down would be more harmful.

Yeah, sour grapes that's it. I didn't report this story, the CBC and CTV did.

It isn't going to affect me, but the folks who live downstream are tres concerned.

Coderre was a former Liberal Cabinet Minister. Big surprise there.

I wonder where Cliffy stands on this?

I'll bet he will call it like he sees it, instead of shilling for the Liberals.
It's not like Harper's people didn't know about it - but they're sure going to make hay of it now when it has propagandic value. Good to see the teeth gnashers have lashed aboard. Rust doesn't care....

It's so weird how conbots don't change even after the recent set of events.

It's like some self inflicted schaudenfraude where they just keep punching themselves in the face until they obliterate themselves from existence.

The question is why did the City of Montreal allow their raw sewage problem to go unsolved until it could no longer be contained? They must have know at least a decade ago that they needed their sewage disposal system updated. Now they have reached the point where they cannot put it off any longer and so the unleash their filth into the St. Lawrence so it can drift away to affect other locations.
If they had addressed this problem when it first became apparent the sewage could have been stored in tanks while they repared/updated their sewage sytem.
Wow! Unbelievable!

This event apparently starts at midnight tonight (November 11th). There are 365 days in a year, and they pick Veteran's Day to start dumping raw sewage into the St. Lawrence!

After four centuries of dumping raw sewage straight into the St. Lawrence River finally stopping about 25 years ago, Montreal is spilling a little more again in order to do some maintenance on their drainage system.

There is, in fact, no story, here.

They polluted the crap out of the great lakes, maybe we should start doing that. And while we're at it lets take up the odd whale hunt. Maybe club a few white baby seals for posterity.

Well now there is one thing to consider though,,,,fish been poopin in those waterways forever so,,,but wait a minute human poopie is worse.

It actually is. Very much so.
