I'm thinking there is starting to be a little recognition in that direction. I think outfits like World Vision and the Salvation Army are working on it. Of course there is still one huge obstacle......................Greed.

yep, and blind religion, power over others, discrimination against others, that inequality thing again.

those organizations do what they can, and that is good, but what they do is 'after' others have done
wrong first to create the problem, looks like that will never stop.

blind anything can cause everything you describe. "religion" is just one more "tool" that mankind uses against others. It has nothing to do with "God". When "religion" is misused by MANKIND it is no different than anything else that is misused by MANKIND.

But then, looking at it that way, does not serve your purpose, does it. It doesn't serve your prejudice against "religion" or "God". It puts the onus on man rather than an intangible thing like "religion" or "God".

yes, blind anything can cause everything I described, I agree.

I don't think I am prejudice against god, I just don't believe in any god, so it is impossible for
me to be prejudice against any god.

I don't think you are prejudice against atheism, you just don't agree with my disbelief, nothing
wsrong with that at all, I am in the minority for sure.
I think the onus 'is' on man, in my opinion there is nothing else, man is responsible for all that
happens on earth and in this life.

I have never thought of myself as 'serving a purpose', I'm just following my truths, as I have learned
to do over the years, and if my truths ever led me to believe in a god, then I would, I can't pretend,
or sit on the fence and just wait for something to happen.
and I'm certainly not going to hide in the background and be afraid of anyone knowing I am an atheist,
I'm not ashamed of being honest.

No one is lying about God, it is just that many are seeking and have not yet found.

A VERY large proportion of the earth's people believe in the same God, whether he is called Jehovah, Allah or just God.

Science is NOT antagonistic to the concept of God, in fact it compliments that belief very nicely. In science Occums Razor applies to virtually everything, the simpler the explanation, the more likely it is to be true. Yet, the more we discover about our universe, the more COMPLEX it becomes.

The Christian Bible, the Koran, the Jewish Old Testament, and a host of other "Holy Writings" are often mans attempt to explain the unexplainable. When it come to the Bible, it is amazing at just how accurate it's history is, towns are where the Bible says that they should be, towns were destroyed catastrophically as the Bible says that they were, etc., etc.

At one time, most of the Near East and Europe believed that each and every word of the Bible was inherently accurate. As time has gone on, and as we have discovered more and more about how things work, we discovered that much of it is essentially a parable. That does NOT however mean that it is all bull manure.

You are free to reject belief. I am free to believe. We were given "free will" to accept or reject. I choose to believe that there is an all powerful deity responsible for this universe, and everything in it.

What does any of this have to do with my cat?

Appeal to popularity.

That's not Occam's Razor. Occam's Razor is the principle states that among competing hypotheses that predict equally well, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected. Other, more complicated solutions may ultimately prove to provide better predictions, but—in the absence of differences in predictive ability—the fewer assumptions that are made, the better.

Actually, that's pretty good evidence it's bull manure.

You are free to reject belief. I am free to believe. We were given "free will" to accept or reject. I choose to believe that there is an all powerful deity responsible for this universe, and everything in it.
You enjoy that. Just keep it off my property, out of my face, and out of the civil laws.

No, you are prejudice against those that believe in God.

Lazy eh....................

well, I guess you feel that way, your preogative to think any way you want, but you are assuming
I am prejudice, although many times in the past I have stated that if one is happy believing in god,
then they should, if that is their path, and they are content, then do so, and I, the same for my path.
I wish for people to be happy, and pushing someone to do as I do, isn't a healthy way to go, people have
to do their own thing.

my point - lazy - just meant a refusal to look at many other possibilities as an individual, and not
just following along behind others, take a good look around as you travel thru life, before making
a decision about how one thinks about a god or no god, or maybe something else, who knows.

Epicurus 250 B.C

Epicurus

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

No one has refuted that yet.

God gave man free will. This answers the question. Obviously Epicurus was a little on the dim side.

I'm not assuming anything. Your "lazy" comment is typical of your responses concerning "Christians" and reinforces my statement that you are prejudiced/bigoted.

To believe that man has real "free will" is unbelievably naivé.

And how would we actually know.

Thus calling Epicurus a dummy is ridiculous.

Hey, but whatever floats your ark I guess:).

ok, there is the signal to stop now, this was quite a mature exchange till this moment, sorry you
feel that way, its not the truth and you know it isn't, but you have sunk to your previous
low manner of name calling and accusations, so i'll move on, I've no time for this, I don't
want to do the same to you, so, I'm off, have a good day.
you can really tantrum on in your next post, because there will be response from me, so go at it,
vent.

I would still be interested in why you believe we have free will.

But I do notice that once again old Epicurus leaves the fray unvanquished.

why not, if you have it, use it, why can't you act on it?

or maybe cause the guy threatening you is 6ft 6in, and weighs 300 lbs. lol

I dream about and imagine a lot of things but it's often quite a leap from that to fruition, money and physical ability can be two obstacles. :) :)

Survey says: 55% believe in God. Biblically, there is no fence.
