very exciting indeed.good final game, such a close playoff, not just this series but all of the playoffs,
even winnpeg, who were swept but could have won anyof the games.

tampa has a good team, but lost their scoring touch, and Chicago showed them how it is done.

cory Crawford lifted his game, played like a champion, made a big difference,
the better goalie in this series.

duncan keith was the unanimous con smythe winner, he was amazing, as he always is.

kane came to the forefront in this game, hadn't done a lot of scoring, but sealed the deal tonight.

best of all for me, the cup stays in the western conference, this is our conference, this is where it
belongs.

I so love the handshake, one of the greatest things to watch in the NHL, after all the blood, sweat and tears,
they sincerely form that line and shake each others hands, and even pats on the back, and hugs.

I have to admit, my loyalty to Sid is sorely tested when I look at all that Jonathan has accomplished in his 27 years. And, I must add, he is sooo easy on the eyes. :smile:

WOW---you got that right, what a great picture.

I saw him throw in the first pitch for the Chicago cubs yesterday, he was in his glory, he represents
his team so well, he is a great captain, in all aspects of the game.

and Duncan keith was a very obvious choice for the 'con smythe trophy, so good for him.

LAS VEGAS - Here in this gambling mecca where numbers rule, the No. 3 reigned supreme on Tuesday.
Indeed, after meeting for almost five hours at the posh Bellagio Hotel and Resort, NHL general managers decided that three-on-three overtime for five minutes is the way to go.
If the proposal gets rubber-stamped by the league’s Board of Governors on Wednesday, the new format will be implimented in time for the beginning of the 2015-16 season.
The concept likely will go over well with the players, if John Tavares’s take symbolizes that of his colleagues.
“You get a lineup of, say, Crosby, Malkin, Letang going up against Toews, Kane, Duncan Keith, what’s not to like?” Tavares told Postmedia.
“I think people might think it’s kind of gimmicky, but I think people will see the best players in the world with open ice make plays. I think it will be fun to play in and special to watch.”
The National Hockey League Players Association favoured three-on-three for five minutes instead of the American Hockey League format — three minutes of 3-on-3 followed by 4-on-4 until the end of a seven-minute period — according to Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland.
In the process, 4-on-4 overtime is now dead.
“It’s taken a long time,” said Holland, who has led the charge for the implementation of the format.
“I believe that three-on-three is going to be as entertaining as a shootout and maybe more entertaining because it’s going to be a team concept. There’s going to be breakdowns, two-on-ones. I think there’s going to be some breakaways involved on three-on-three. It’s going to be entertaining and in the end it’s going to be determined in a higher percentage of team play.”
Ducks GM Bob Murray was more to the point.
“If there are less shootouts, I’m all for it,” Murray said.
In 2014-15 there were 170 shootouts during the NHL regular season. That was eight fewer than the total in 2013-14.
To Murray’s point, there should be far less than that moving forward now that three-on-three appears to be the order of the day, pending approval by the board of governors.

center in those situations, puck possession could last for a long time, and the chase will be on.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price claimed the Hart Trophy, the Vezina Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award at the NHL's annual post-season bash Wednesday night in Las Vegas.

The Hart goes to the league's most valuable player as voted by pro hockey writers. The Vezina goes to the top goalie, as judged by the NHL's general managers. The Lindsay goes to the most outstanding player as voted by the players.

Price also shared the already-announced Jennings Trophy (fewest goals allowed) with Chicago goalie Corey Crawford, but his hefty haul of hardware capped one of the greatest regular seasons for a goalie in NHL history.

"I'm just grateful," Price said. "I'm immeasurably blessed to do what I do."

Price, who's from rural British Columbia, also had an inspirational message for First Nations youth during his Vezina acceptance speech.

Price led the league with 44 victories, a 1.96 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage, becoming the first goalie to take all three top spots since Chicago's Ed Belfour in 1991. The butterfly-style star led the Canadiens to the Atlantic Division title and the league's second-best record before falling in the second round of the playoffs to Tampa Bay.

Less than 16 months after he backstopped Canada to an Olympic gold medal in Sochi, Price became the first goalie to win the Hart Trophy since Colorado's Jose Theodore in 2002.

for about 3 years, the point 'is' to cut down drastically on the shoot outs, and it has proven to do
just that, because they want a winner, and 3 on 3 brings out a winner 'sooner' than 4 on 4 and definitely
5 on 5.

carey price did just what we all wanted him to do, 'clean up', he is a great young b.c. boy, we are proud
of him for sure, he also looks great, as we were lucky enough to see multiple times on stage, and I loved
that he encouraged the first nations kids 'not' to be discouraged and move forward.

congrats to him and also eric karlsson for winning the Norris, another one of my favourite young players.
he is very special.

I also want to congratulation 'bob hartley' for winning the jack adams for best
coach of the year, he did wonders with those guys, they have a good future, and
he deserved the prize.

I have a better idea- Play an entire 20 minute 5 on 5 overtime. If it is still tied then it should go in the books as a tie. Nothing wrong with ties.

those parts of bieksa are never going to go away, but unfortunately his play on the ice is. last year
his level of play fell way down, he had a so so year, and his time on the canucks is over. they
have to get younger and upgrade the play of each of their players as they age and show that they
have come to the end of their quality time.
if canucks had lots of cap room and lots of high end defencemen, they could keep him around for
fourth pairing defence, but they need the cap room that his contract takes up, he has one more
year left on that contract, and I think it is over 4 mil. they need that money to use for other
deals they will come across along the way. they are near the top of the cap, don't have much room
at all.
the cap has created teams have have to work very carefully around money.

this move is very necessary. they are also shopping one of their goalies, and it looks like eddie
lack will be going somewhere also, don't have that news yet.
miller has two years on his contract, markstrom won't bring a high enough trade yet, so it is lack
who is the third man out, they can't carry three goalies, and markstrom is ready to be the regular
backup on the team.
until miller is done, they can't carry two other goalies, one has to go, so it will be the one most
wanted by another team.

wow, Calgary flames have acquired 'scotty hamilton', top defenceman, from boston bruins, for first

round and 2 second round picks, Hamilton is young and talented, very good trade for both teams.

still no confirmed trade for bieksa or lack, apparently other teams are in the
bidding for bieksa, so it might take a while, as bieksa is also part of the
agreeing or not side of it, his new contract that his new team would give him
will make a difference to 'what' team he gives the OK to.
