they sure could swing a mean strap I remember one in particular when she used the strap would come right off of the floor, tiny little thing...well not tiny actually, but short and there's a difference no qualms about smacking kids over the head either.
doesn't seem like they suffered much from a lack of food either, even though they kept telling us kids we should sacrifice and go hungry and without water...ya know...and offer it up...

That's not a particularly heavier rate than normal. in 2014, there were 235 murders in Baltimore which was the fifth highest rate for a city over 100,000 according to the FBI.
To put that into perspective, there were 505 murders in all of Canada combined (population 35,000,000 or 56 times the population of Baltimore 622,000) in 2013.
