here's a piece that I find relevant:

those who knew him were shocked saying he was not the type of individual to hurt another

I don't know if this type of thing can ever actually fully be prevented...people snap and break sometimes

No you can't bubble wrap the world, although it seems sometimes as if some people may want to. But the investigation is important here because it will be impartial, a logical and reasonable assessment. Even if the investigation finds that something could have been done to intervene, it doesn't necessarily imply a larger fault unless it can be determined that someone, somewhere should have been able to foresee it. Many times, it's the tragedies that make us evaluate the 'way things have always been done' and conclude that may not have been the best way to do it.

With the information I have read thus far, the only problem I see is his personal private physician not reporting his illness to the airline safety administration (whatever that is in Germany). .

That's the big question as of yet unanswered.

Was it reported to his employer or the German Aviation Authority, who in turn should have reported it to the employer?

We may find those answers soon..........

yes

for me I view things differently than most...I do not believe we die before our time and thus philosophically conclude those people would have died regardless of where they were...it is not a popular view but to me, death cannot be prevented and while those 8 minutes would have been horrible there are worse ways to go

if from this tragedy they can alter something within the system that will be a positive although such a conclusion would be painful to many survivors making them believe this tragedy could have been diverted and their loved one saved, that would be a horrible thing to live with

I don't believe in fate, I believe it's our choices that determine the outcome.

See I would view this as, from the perspective of a family member, that some good was coming out of something bad.

yes

I don't believe in fate either I do not believe in divine intervention in the way most would view it either,

it was their day to die, fate would have nothing to do with it

you would likely be one of the lucky ones then, I find when death happens to many people they too cease to live in any joyful way

It seems we have different definitions of 'fate'??? If it was their day to die and nothing could have prevented it, then that's fate as I understand it. A predetermined destiny.

Again, that's a choice. And while not all choices are easy, we can make conscious decisions on our paths.

I'd say "influence" the future. Sometimes the best choices in the world won't save you.

Fair enough. Just because someone makes a choice it doesn't mean they think about it first. I'll amend to say 'informed choices have the greatest probability of determining outcome'.

Precisely. The very best we can do is educate ourselves, inform ourselves, decide exactly what we want, and then make choices best calculated to bring that about. It's called "loading the dice." It doesn't mean you'll win every time, it means you'll win as often as possible.

I believe we choose the most important aspects to our lives before we arrive including who we travel with and how long it will be...thus all is choice, we are the masters of our destiny

the choice is ours alone

Yep, I chose to be a Kennedy, but then that bastard John-John stole my slot! Course, I had the last laugh when his plane augered in.

You gotta wonder about the folk that choose to be born poor and f*cked up.

it's all relative...we aren't our bodies, we are our souls and it's but one life...not much in the big scheme of things, poor and f*cked up can be more about the journey of those around us and whom we chose to aid along the way

I don't believe in chance either

I hope next time I choose gorgeous, vapid and rich ya know just to have some fun...;-)

Going full-on Hilton next time? Should be good for a karmic laugh or two.

You're pretty damn wonderful this life, kiddo. Hope your guy appreciates what he's got.

Pilot shares thank you letter from airline passenger

31 March 2015
BBC

It's always nice to say thank you.

An airline passenger's touching handwritten letter thanking her pilots for taking her home is being shared across Twitter.

It was posted by pilot Jai Dillon with the message: "A letter given to a colleague from a passenger onboard his aircraft. Providing proof that we're all in this together."

It comes after a Germanwings plane crashed into the Alps last week, killing all 150 people on board.

"At the end of the day, we are all humans just trying to live this rollercoaster of a life we have been handed," writes Bethanie in her letter.

"You're making a massive difference and you're the reason I can smile tonight."

Have you figured out how many Muzzies we need to kill to get even for the Muzzie attack on the French Alps, Blackleaf?

The difference between me and you is that when this plane careered into a mountainside I immediately suspected the Muslims, whereas you immediately suspected Christian extremists, probably German Lutherans.

Therefore, I am eminently more sensible than you.

I can't figure out if you're lying or if you're so stupid that's what you actually got from my posts. Or both.
