Curt Ford circa 1988. (Beckett)

Curt Ford, a St. Louis Cardinals outfielder from 1985-1988, was the victim in an alleged racially motivated attack Wednesday at a St. Louis-area gas station. Ford was punched in the face and, according to police, was told by his attacker: "Go back to Ferguson you (racial slur)."
The attack happened at a Petro Mart gas station in Fenton, Mo., about 28 miles from Ferguson, the St. Louis suburb that was the epicenter of protests and racial turmoil after Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer there last August.
According to police, Ford was minding his business when his attacker — who was later arrested and identified as 37-year-old James Street — blind-sided him with a punch as they were both inside gas station's store.

He deserved it for provoking the other guy.

There should really never be an excuse for a cop shooting anybody who is unarmed. Period. Tazer maybe but never shots. I think the cop should be fired and/or charged. Let the court sort it out. But riots are more fun.
Like all these incidents-there is quite a different story told by both sides. This "unarmed "teenager apparently was the approximate size and demeanor of the Hulk according to the officer involved.
He robbed a story just before and the video shows him bullying the store worker.
Then you hear that the cop did not know that.Your life can turn on a fleeting dime especially if they have ingested certain drugs. .The cop was sitting in the car so maybe didn't have time for a taser.
You can't force blacks and other minorities to become cops but maybe more easily obtained education and training would change the balance.
Until people believe in their own hearts that we are all equal-it will be a problem.I have seen people in these forums insult others over their jobs and lack of wealth.
To many it is even more telling than skin color and a rich guy is mostly given the nod.
Maybe technology will save us from ourselves as police body cameras become more prevalent.
George Orwell could not have anticipated that as Big Brother is watching us -we have begun looking right back at them.
Dystopian future though, cameras, microphones and deadly flying drones 24/7 enforcing an uneasy peace and a twisted authoritarian state.
Until leaders can convince us they are not hypocrites -society will suffer.
