hmmmm, you are right, although we never spoke of religion he was likely a Sikh and thus he would not be Muslim

This doesn't really mean anything does it? In an white majority community most murders committed against whites would likely be other whites. Similarly, a black majority community , a hindu majority, a jewish majority, etc.. would likely have crimes committed mostly by the majority of that community.
