Come on Brian no one would forget the real incident especially under those
conditions. You would remember which chopper you were on. He thought
no one would complain assuming they were as vain as he is shame on him.

Unfortunately, the News has transformed itself from Information delivery to Infomercial entertainment.

What is lacking in today's media?

  • Impartial reporting
  • Fact checking
  • Integrity
They are all a bunch of vain, unprofessional entertainers.

Unfortunately, the News has transformed itself from Information delivery to Infomercial entertainment.

What makes it even sadder is it's not even really that entertaining. It's basically nothing more than pandering to a specific demographic and tossing in a few current events at the same time. I truly do not see any value in that. In my opinion, news and current events should challenge your mind, not leave you sitting there nodding along with the announcer.

Brain Williams and Media Scandals

News anchor Brian Williams was mired in scandal this week after admitting that he had lied for years about being in a helicopter that was hit by enemy fire while covering the Iraq War in 2003. Here are other journalism scandals and controversies that news outlets have experienced over the years:

1963: Walter Cronkite is accused of unprofessionalism during his coverage of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination due to his heavy use of the phrase “Holy guacamole!” throughout the broadcast

1987: Peter Jennings faces claims of impartiality after snorting a line of cocaine off his desk during ABC World News Tonight and claiming that the War on Drugs is unwinnable

1997: Tom Brokaw comes under fire after failing to name the source who identified the Greatest Generation for him

1998: In a slip-up that has far-reaching implications, food critic Bryan Miller describes the texture of roasted quail flambéd with cognac as “toothsome” when it was in fact more accurately described as “luscious”

2003: Following a celebrated story on the new 2 Fast 2 Furious release, a veteran reporter at Entertainment Tonight admits to paying off sources for information about whether the cast had the time of their lives on set

2006: The New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and scores of other news sources address the fact that they provided overly credulous reporting about the threat posed by Iraq that helped lead the nation into a long, disastrous war on false pretenses by issuing one-line corrections on page two of their publications

2009: The editor of Horticulture magazine is accused of nepotism after giving an internship to one of his own ferns

2011: News Corp.’s British tabloid News Of The World shocks the global population when it’s revealed that its reporters are somehow competent enough to hack phones

2015: Brian Williams lies on live television with his claim that he’s not in a career that is crashing and burning

On vacation, why not a fate for all liars in the news. Like the admin don't fine tooth the info that gets out, scapegoat is the proper term.

Brian Williams announced he is going on a hiatus while NBC News investigates the Nightly News anchor following his admission that he made false claims about an incident in the Iraqi desert.Williams had claimed that an army helicopter he was flying in was shot down. After being called out by members of the military who were at the scene, Williams recanted his story. Following that admission, NBC revealed that it is investigating some of his reports for misinformation including his reporting following Hurricane Katrina where he claimed he saw bodies float down the street of the French Quarter in New Orleans.

Re: Brain Williams and Media Scandals

Some of these so called scandals must have come from a serious slow news day.
Brian is another matter. He knew damn well that he was not in the chopper fired
on and so did the pilot. The problem for him is he said it on TV in the age os the
we know all things social media. Yes he has lost his credibility and its time for
him to retire

Look at the source. The only ones that are real are Brian Williams and the one about roasted quail.

You just gotta know that the bulk of the analysts these days are kicking back with their feet up, munching on Cheetos, reading everyone's Facebook posts, lol.
