They claim on Saturday afternoon the child returned home after skating with friends, where she was left with an adult. When the others came back to the house the two were gone.
Initially, everyone thought they had gone to the rink again. But when they didn’t return, suspicions grew. Family members said a short while later the child was found naked and left for dead in the woods.

so, he was actually in her home and she was under his care?

I am confused how this came about...or are they being evasive for later prosecution?

Sorry, Sal, didn't word that as good as I could have. I was thinking more along the lines of strength of character. I find people who had a free ride all their life and used to having things their way can be rather shallow. Like easily dismiss other people's problems and concerns. People who have had a tough go of it are often better listeners and more understanding. They are often not as greedy and selfish. I suppose while possessing these traits they could still be "messed up". Having said that I am sure there are cases that will make a liar out of me. :) :) :) :)

I agree that adversity either makes you or breaks you. And breaks you can be a relative term as well. One can make it through terrible adversity while growing up and become extremely successful monetarily and for all intents and purposes one has "made it", risen above and gone beyond. And one has of course. If however it has left one with a hardness of heart...that is still broken.

I think in the end everyone has had or does have challenges and a tough go of it. That is life. That old adage of 'walk a mile in my shoes' holds true. We never know what another has lived. We never know the trials they overcome daily just to make it until tomorrow. It's why kindness in every situation where we can bring it forth, should prevail.

I think pain and anger and fear, are usually at the root of every cruelness perpetrated for most creatures.

Perhaps they are deliberately withholding a lot of information so the defense lawyers don't have any "grist" to chew on!.

possibly...it said he was of no known address but then it would seem she had been told to go home to change her wet clothing, some adult was there at home (him?) and when the others arrived home the child and the adult weren't there and they became worried when time passed

many possibilities in there
