The educational system is under fire from all sides and the teachers and
powers that be insist on counting how many tempests will fit into a teapot.

Rhoda was the last person I saw actually wearing head scarves aside from those trying to hide the curlers in their hair. Remember them too? Lol.

TOTALLY. Curlers...what a strange torture device those must have been

School uniforms distort individual expression had they had them when I went
to school I would have parted ways as a lot of young people would. We have
to stop two groups out of control one is the Social Conservative agenda that
is trying to put the liberated society genie back in the bottle this is a product of
social conservative born again folks who want that simpler time way back when
that of course never existed. We are living in the futures simper time.
The other group is the Politically Correct Liberal conformist individualists.
No such thing? I beg to differ they are those who speak of rights and openness
while trying to enforce a PC agenda of correctness You have the right to say
anything you want as long as it conforms to their agenda
One group is as bad as the other.
Nope people have a general idea of what is or is not acceptable and the guidelines
make sense. Profanity, suggestive slogans, and see through garments are out.
But we're talking about a little girl in grade 3 which means she's around 8 or 9 years
old. She is hardly promoting an agenda she wants to comfortably keep her hair out
of her eyes The whole education system in having a nervous breakdown because a
little kid wants to wear a scarf what would happen if there was a real problem.
Its not the kid I worry about its the adults

We could solve all these problems with school uniforms.

We could also solve a lot of these problem by just not making them problems in the first place. I mean, we're not talking about gang bangers here, this is a third grader.

Besides which, the prinicpal (who just started at this school after moving into the district-obviously this wasn't a problem before) stated the following:

The principal, new to the school after moving from Alberta, said his position comes from his belief that rules are rules, and it is respectful to remove hats or headwear when entering a building and that the policy avoids a double standard.

"I don’t like that we have to go 50 km/h in town, but that’s the rule," Blais said in an interview. "At some point, there’s no point arguing. I don’t understand the purpose of not following the rules."

That right there just makes me so not want to follow the rules. Lol.

He clearly doesn't understand what a double standard means if she'd been allowed to wear it for religious reasons.

Great way to get started in a new community eh? Not only that but its about his personal
views on life in general. He came from a different mind set here in BC we agree partly
with rules. BC folks believe in rules to a point when they don't suit us we have different rules.
If you live here think about, there are rules everywhere pot is one of them yes against the law.
Personally never used the stuff and won't but at the same time I don't think everyone who
does should end up considered a criminal but to some rules are rules you know.
Putting people in the same category as bank robbers and others in crime because they inhale
something is a stupid rule.
If parents want to help out every kid in the school should show up with a head scarf on Tuesday
see what happens then. It is sad when the Principal borders on being a bully

Yeah I never bought into that. 'Rules are rules' is not good enough. If there is a rule it should serve some practical purpose. As for the respect thing - yeah I just don't get that and never did. If anyone is offended by a person who wears a hat or scarf indoors - well, thats their problem. Get a thicker skin.

We could solve all these problems with school uniforms.

Ha, I switched out of a school when it was announced that they would be introducing uniforms in the following year. I cant stand those things.

Respect has to be earned, not legislated. So far I have not met very many people that deserve the respect they attempt to command.
