What do YOU think? I'd gladly take it home.

The US is better than the Engrish in Soccer and we don't even try! Its not our most popular sport. You know have to live vicariously through other countries.

WE OWN YOU!

After being kicked out of the tournament by Belgium in an entertaining match last night (an entertaining match which finished goalless after 90 minutes), someone from The New Yorker ironically tweeted: "Soccer. Boring, eh?"

And American cyclist Jared Nieters tweeted: @TheRaceRadio: So America.....after all these soccer games baseball is starting to look pretty forking boring eh?

Pretty much yeah. Unless they start having the World Cup every year. Other than that it is boring. I can on a whim go to the NE Revolution game and get a ticket at the gate for cheap money. I can't do that at a Patriots game.

So the Yanks are seeing what a truly great game "soccer" is, and it'll only be a matter of time before it's America's national sport, although I'm sure the other sports in America will try their best to ensure that doesn't happen, for obvious reasons.

Just World Cup fever. We're still better than England!

You guys SUCK!

How? By just about, by the skin of your teeth, qualifying from an easy group with just one win - a group which included Ghana and a has-been Portugal side - whilst England were in, statistically, the toughest group of the tournament, and then being knocked out by Belgium?

Had Howard not been in goal the Belgians would probably have run up a cricket score.

Here are some stats from last night's game which haven't been mentioned yet:

Total shots

Belgium - 56
USA - 22

Corners

Belgium - 19
USA - 4

By the looks of things, it's well on its way to being just that in the not-too-distant future. The Americans are finding out now that football is a far more watchable and entertaining spectacle than their tedious, stop-start games.

Actually, Britain owns 13 of America's 50 states.

Good to see that watching the Beautiful Game is so cheap in Yankeeland. That'll sure draw in the punters and introduce many thousands of more Yanks to the delights of football.

England are ranked higher than the USA. USA aren't ranked in the world's Top 10, unlike England.

About an hour ago I spoke to a neighbor who is originally from Ethiopia. He watched the match vs Belgium in Minneapolis with a number of friends and said that several people actually cried when we lost. Contrary to what so many believe, there are MILLIONS of Americans who are just as passionate about soccer as any European or South American. Since we got this far in the tournament there is a possibility that the USA can finish out the season in the Top Ten. I believe that after this great effort we do belong at # 10 in the FIFA standings. Let's hope for the best ....

It's not that the American public doesn't like football. It's just that baseball, basketball and American football are doing all they can to stop football becoming the country's biggest sport.

The US didn't play too badly against Belgium. You produced some heroics towards the end of extra time but that was more through panic and desperation when you suddenly found yourselves 2-0 down. But had it not been for Howard's heroics Belgium would probably have run up a cricket score. Another thing that I've mentioned before is that the USA players seem to be a lot more physically fitter than other teams at the World Cup and that showed in the last few minutes of extra time when you pulled a goal back and almost equalised when the Belgians were, literally, knackered.

It's not been pointed out yet that the USA only won one match in the World cup, and that was against Ghana, a team ranked 37th in the world.

And who knows how USA would have fared against England? We were in the same group in the 2010 World Cup and it finished 0-0.

Engerland, by contrast, sucked a$$ every time they played.

We played well in all our matches, but we just happened to be in the only group at this World Cup which featured three former World Cup winners and three teams in the world Top 10.

Whereas you guys stunk up the joint.

Doesn't a team actually need to know how to play before they get selected for FiFo?

And who knows how USA would have fared against England? We were in the same group in the 2010 World Cup and it finished 0-0.

That was then... you would have got stomped.

Is that why it was called the Group of Death?

Oh, wait. It wasn't. It was the Group of Suck-A$$ Has-Beens.

Your lot didn't exactly set the place alight.

I know... that is what makes it so hilarious. Soccer is not our sport and we still do well.

And we're better than the Engrish. Not that it is hard to be but it is better because of you haunting the place.

Well, we'll never know, will we?

I know we would kick the **** out of you in this game. Even you're own press are embarrassed. You soccer team is a national embarrassment.

Not really - soccer is the # 1 youth sport in the USA with more registered players than baseball/softball combined. The problem is that soccer has not been marketed properly. Some of this will be solved once a NY derby or rivalry is established and that will happen next year as you have shown by the new NY team entering the MLS. When other historic rivalries such as Chicago-St Louis, NY-Boston, San Francisco-LA, Dallas-Houston, Montreal-Toronto are promoted, this will greatly increase interest in the league. Why it hasn't done this up to this point is beyond me.

But it can be done!
