No revenge, take a life, then serve life.
Malicious, what about those that beat or starve a child to death- 10 maybe 15 years. Life in prison.
Yes they will rot and that is not revenge, they were not murdered now were they.

Insert punishment for revenge.

I am only in favour of the death penalty for a certain type of person: Serial rapists and Serial killers.

I forget his first name but it was a guy named Richardson in Florida who was a convicted mass murderer and spent 7 years appealing the guilty verdict.

Then when his former wife lay dying in a Arizona hospital she confessed to having murdered her 7 children. By the way, the judge in the Richardson case knew that she had been charged with killing three other children but suppressed any evidence of that in the trial.

Well, if you're a Jeebus follower, this world is a vale of tears and the hereafter is all cuddly bunnies and chillin' with Gawd. So actually we're doing the condemned a favour.

The Forum?

Oops! Not the Roman Forum I was thinking of this forum. Let me correct my previous statement - the CC Forum!

yikes.

My understanding is that mass murder and serial murder are committed by 2 different types of people. I'm all for ending the tyranny that is brought about by psychopaths who kill for enjoyment.

What about cereal eaters?

Jeebus no! I'm a cereal eater...also I am a serial eater...

Yes it is punishment.
I do agree with the new law regarding multiple murders in Canada, consecutive sentences.
That POS who murdered 3 Police Office will receive 75 years before eligibility for Parole.

Do you disagree with this new law?

^ in that Richardson matter the judge who suppressed the evidence should have to forfeit his pension and serve out the term of the sentence at hard labor

I do not support the death penalty...never have and it has nothing to do with my spiritual beliefs.

I have toyed with the idea and at one point thought that it should be used on the most heinous of crimes. Now I say no. They should not be released ever and they should be treated humanely but society needs to be protected from such individuals forever.

The chance of murdering one innocent in error is not justified ever.

i'm in favour of death penalty as long as they are guilty.
so that means that you are against the death penalty, correct?

Why don't you simply say, Goober, that capital punishment is barbaric, like games in the Roman Forum?

Should I have to.
Will that change a persons mind?
Then again as you know the Military does deal in death.

Those that support a Death Penalty.
If you have a religious belief(s), how do you reconcile those beliefs with a death penalty

I don't support it, never have, never will. It's not a 'penalty', it isn't punishment, it's retribution, revenge. Bottom line for me is that those of us on the civilized, law abiding side of the law should not participate in that.

Myself, I would rather see them rot in prison till the end of their days.
I can agree with that. And for those fears of overcrowding in prisons, I'd say we look at other means of punishment for those offenders who do not commit violent offences. Save the 5x9 cells for those who have no place at all in society.

Two votes for malicious sustained revenge instead of quick and dirty revenge.

Well, if you're out for revenge, why wouldn't you want to savour it?

That would depend on the religion. Quite a few of them are ok with it so there is nothing to reconcile.

Ive never been in favour of it and am glad its been gone for decades.

would those who support the death penalty, be willing to give up their life in order to keep the death penalty?

after all, if one supports it, then one must support the occasional death of an innocent as the price to pay for sustaining it, so then would you be okay with being that innocent, or would that change your stance
