At least 'everyone' will be talking about this guy for a few days and thus taking the heat off our very good friend Woody Allen.

Even though you felt this important enough to post the story twice in one thread, (thanks for not starting another thread on the same subject), I saw this story Sunday afternoon and looked up his pic. He looks vaguely familiar but I would have not matched the face with the name for the Million Dollar prize......

I guess that's what happens when you don't watch TV or go to general movies. You get out of the loop on all the important stuff.

But I had heard of Max though I couldn't name a movie he was in either...........

Austrian-born actor Maximilian Schell dies at a hospital in Innsbruck, Austria ...

its not that I felt that this was important. I just felt bad that someone who was talented died for nothing. :(

Hopefully his children weren't negatively influenced by his drug use.

and so many whine and moan about making sure athletes are tested for drugs consistently. if hollywood
and much of the entertainment world had to do drug testing, there wouldn't be many left to entertain
us, as they probably can't entertain till they are full of narcotics.

its a joke, and we are suppose to look up to them, admire them, and put millions of our dollars into
being entertained by them, give me a break.

all we will hear now is 'poor' phillip, he was such a good guy, but we won't hear the criticizm of
the lifestyle, why.

why is it any different than performance enhancing drugs in the sports world, makes them perform better,
well, apparantly that is what many drugs do for entertainers, yet we cherish and admire them, again, why.

not I folks, not I, and i don't admire the sports cheaters either.

thats it, i'm off to the shower, finished my rant, have a good day.

Hoffman had more range that any other actor on screen today.. as much as any in the history of film imho.

A man with an 'everyman' face and physique.. he could play a literary dandy (Capote.. for which he won the Academy Award).. or a tormented porn industry hang around (Boogie Nights).. or a cold as ice arch villain (Mission Impossible 3).. with complete and often gripping authenticity.

It's a puzzle to me that such a gifted talent, who won acclaim and all the creature comforts that fame offers, could not find fulfillment outside the sharp end of a needle (like many others). :(

RIP, Philip.

Hopefully his children weren't negatively influenced by his drug use.

Unfortumately its not how these things usually work.. addiction draws in everyone in close range.
