Attack, if you feel better, but it is my honest opinion.
If you felt attacked (by a simple provable observation, you feel guilt). You should probably take some time to think about why that is. Because I think you're a pretty 'just' person.

The largest city in Canada chose him. They made their bed, deal with it.

Exactly! I still cannot fathom why anyone who doesn't live in Toronto would even give a damn. An opinion, yes, that I can understand...but why do they have so much invested in it???

Just take a look at the political bent of the bulk of them.

Frankly, i couldn't care less if Ford is a Conservative. Toronto's repuation, and by extension, Canada's has suffered.

I guess. But then I've never understood partisan ideology either.

If he stays, if he goes, I couldn't care less one way or the other. But this entire circus is a sad spectacle, from the press to the chief of police to his own behaviour.

More so than Adscam or the Mulroney/Shrieber debacle? Frankly I found both of those at least, if not more, distrubing and embarrassing. Toronto may be a large city but it's still just a city, it's still just municipal politics and small potatoes when it comes to scandals.

The press are acting like goons (have for a while now) and the mayor often behaves like a baboons a*s*s*...honestly I think they deserve each other.

Yeah. It makes no difference to me how this goes one way or another. I dont live there, never have and doubt i ever will. I really dont understand people who say he (or any other controversial figure) are an embarrassment to Canadians. Im not bothered by anything he or any other person does. If I lived in Toronto and voted for him I probably would be embarrassed. If I lived there and didnt vote for him Id feel vindicated. As things are Im neither. What I am is very well entertained.

Actually, you know what's embarrassing?

The $1.1billion dollars the Liberals used to buy votes, and no one was marching in the streets demanding Dalton or Wynne's head.

That's embarrassing.

The opinions of people who would judge Canada by what Rob Ford does don't really matter to me. They can't be too smart to begin with.

I can only tolerate the "entertainment" value in small doses. Sometimes it feels like I've been watching Porky's for weeks on end, the humour gets a little old after a while, lol.

Yes it is. And still a notch or two above small potatoes municipal politics on the scandal meter.

They were for about a week. The public by and large have a very short attention span and memory.

But here are in a thread about it, go figure.

I've never, ever understood the whole 'scandal' thing when it doesn't involve their (politician's) jobs. Why the hell should I care if some guy cheats on his wife? Lot's of guys cheat on their wives, lot's of wives cheat on their husbands. I care if my husband cheats, but other than that very, very specific scenario I don't care who's doing whom. Yet that is, traditionally speaking, the biggest of all the big scandals for politicians. I want to know "are the books balanced? was he using taxpayer dollars?...No, then who cares?"

They were for about a week. The public by and large have a very short attention span and memory.

No, I have a short attention span and memory. The public, by and large, has a really warped sense of priorities.

A big chunk of them either dont have priorities at all or just dont care. The voter turnout in the 2011 election was 49.2%. Yes, individual voters dont tend to sway much one way or another, but there is a lot more than one person always staying home. More than half the voters more or less said "I dont care." In a way theyre getting what they deserve.
