The True fans will talking about the high points. This was the best Winnipeg has played in awhile and the fans and team should take heart from that. I don't expect the Banjo Bowl to be quite as close as this one. Goltz did well leading his team in spite of the 2 TOs. Glad to see W stuck with him and didn't start the shuffle. Nice to see Boltus in the game, getting his feet wet in the CFL.

Just checked the TSN2 sched........they won't be replaying the game until 10 PST time tonight - wont' be able to watch the entire game....will have to make sure I vote this Game of the Week on TSN - not that I will be alone, Riders seem to own the Game of the Week.
The Bombers have had a hard season. Goltz was amazing. He deserves plenty of kudos. His running reminded me of Darian back a couple seasons ago before the injury. Very quick thinking and reacting leading to first downs.

I'm itching for tomorrows game, EE has some wicked talent which they had shown last week. I hope it lit the fire in their hearts and under their asses enough to give the Stamps a good thumping.

Gooooo Eskimos!

I was correct in assuming that True Bomber fans would find the high points and those that aren't can only complain. Some good comments about Goltz and the O today. Haven't made it through all the comments yet so we will see if there is some kind of consensus on Goltz - for me, he's their starter from now on - no more merry-go-round.

I have to work tomorrow so will probably miss a quarter or two..........you will have to take over the cheering squad until I get back home. Go Esks, Go..............Rock the house, Mike Reilly.

Tuned in to watch Mark Trestman's Bears in a pre-season game - big fan of Mark and wishing him all the best down south. Go, Bears.

I'll have to take notes. I think tomorrow is going to be "homemade" day if you know what I'm getting at. I'd best be stocking up on milk. LOL

If Reilly plays anything like last week, there will only be the only team with a 1 and 8 record.

I take notes for every single game, petros - pages and pages of them. Will be rushing home soon as I can to catch whatever Q is on when I get here.

GO ESKS, GO!

Carted away with the rubble (along with remaining talent) when they tore down the old stadium. The new stadium is cursed.

The Edmonton Eskimos at least gave Calgary something to think about yesterday. When it looked as if Calgary would sail to an easy victory over the Esks with a 37 - 7 lead and barely ten minutes left in the game, the Esks once again mounted a 4th Q comeback. Scoring 4 unanswered TDs and pulling within 3 pts of Calgary.......but the win was not to be for the Esks and Calgary held on to take the game 37 to 34. The win leaves the Stamps firmly in 2nd place in the West - 2 pts behind Sask and 2 pts ahead of BC. Sure hope the Esks can get a win in their own house next weekend when they once again take on the Stamps in the 2nd of their back-to-back games.

In the final game of the LD weekend albeit a day after the holiday, Montreal triumphed over the TO Argos for their 3rd win of the season. Anthony Calvillo sat out the game with a concussion symptoms so Tanner Marsh got the call to start behind center for the Als. Zach Collaros was in for the injured Ricky Ray.

It was a game of errors, penalties and TOs for most of the night. I don't think I've watched a game this season where so many flags were thrown. Flags weren't the only thing littering the field as player after player hit the turf and had to be helped off the field - most of the injuries were incidental and saw the players back on the field after a brief sit on the bench. Brandon Whittaker, however, did not return after pulling a ham string - Jerome Messam stepped in to take his place and had a couple of really great plays.

Toronto will be hoping to even the score next week. TOs fortunes were not helped by the fact that only 18,863 people turned out to watch their team tonight and apparently most of them were university students - hope the CFL made note of that and will quit scheduling games on a Tuesday night - Sheesh. On another note, Chris Hadfield - our Man in Space was on hand tonight to perform the opening kick-off for his Argos.

Final score: Montreal 20 - Toronto 9

Final score -

Around the League in Week 11

Darian Durant got top honors as the Player of the Month – Rock on DD! Darian completed 86 of 129 passes for 1,172 yards and 9 TDs for the month. He currently leads the league with 21 TDs and just 1 measly interception.

Montreal Alouette LB Chip Cox – Defensive Player of the Month with a CFL high of 71 tackles. He is also credited with 1 sack.

And back in the Green and White, Chris Milo was named Special Teams Player of the Month for making all 11 of his FG attempts. Way to go Milo!

Montreal LB Marc-Olivier Brouillette - Top Canadian of Month. Marc-Olivier has a league-leading 3 forced fumbles which led to 2 defensive TDs and has a career-best 4 sacks. Good on ya, Marc.

Really sad news out of Montreal where Jim Popp announced that Anthony Calvillo will be out for 9 weeks with concussion symptoms. Considering that there are only 9 games left in the regular season, this is indeed a blow for both the Als and Anthony. It would be an inglorious end to an illustrious career if Anthony were to end his season this way as chances are he will not be back in Montreal colors next year. All the best to you Anthony, truly hope your team makes it to the play-offs and we get to see you on the field again.

Veteran centre for the BC Lions – Angus Reid will miss his 10th straight game with a back injury. He has three herniated discs in his lower back and one is pressing against his sciatic nerve. ML - Solomon Elimimian has a thigh injury and DB Ryan Phillips – groin both are questionable for the teams 2nd game against the Ti-Cats.

Tanner Marsh will be back behind centre when the Als play their 2nd game against the Argos this week.

Winnipeg signed yet another QB on Wednesday – Levi Brown a 2010 7th round draft pick of the NFL’s Buffalo Bills. Jason Boltus, Max Hall, and Buck Pierce remain on Winnipeg’s depth chart.

Lots of talk on the forums this week about Edmonton GM Ed Hervey’s remarks/rant to the media. Seems that fans around the league are not happy with the way Hervey handled the situation and I agree with them completely. Can you imagine if Brendan Taman did something like this? Riots would break out in Regina. ;-) Hervey specifically called out Simeon Rottier saying he didn’t care if the latter sat on the bench the rest of the season. Gotta wonder how the locker-room will react to this classless move by their GM.

In the same statement, Hervey guaranteed that Doug Sams was finished calling the plays as OC, yet there was Doug practicing with the team on Wednesday and calling all the shots for QB, Mike Reilly. When asked about why Hervey had announced the change, Sams said ‘I don’t know – you’d have to ask him’ Gotta wonder if anyone on the coaching staff has a clue what is going on? Sheesh. Seems that Winnipeg is not the only team with troubles at the top.

Not to be outdone by his GM, Kavis Reed made headlines of his own when he was fined $2500 for remarks made to the officiating staff following the Eskimos loss to Calgary last week. Would love to know what Kavis said - probably much the same as many fans are saying that the refs need to do a better job of calling penalties - and that's putting it very politely.

Stamp’s receiver Maurice Price was nominated as Gibson’s Offensive Player of Week 10 after he scored 3 TDs for Calgary in their game against the Esks. He had 5 catches for 165 yards in the game.

Charleston Hughes got the nod as Gibsons Defensive Player of the Week – Hughes had 3 of the Stamp’s 7 sacks on the Esk’s Mike Reilly.

Gibson’s Special Teams Player went to Edmonton’s Joe Burnett who had 4 punt returns for 91 yards and a 24-yard kickoff return.

Marc-Olivier Brouillette grabbed Top Canadian honors with 6 tackles, 2 sacks and a key forced fumble that saw Shea Emery return the ball for a 37-yard TD.

TSN Power Rankings for Week 10

Saskatchewan finds itself in top spot for the 2nd week in a row.

Calgary Stampeders stayed at 2nd spot and BC Lions sit in 3rd place.

The Ti-Cats improved their record moving from 5th spot to 4th this week.

Toronto Argonauts are now in 6th position a drop of 2 pts from last week.

The Edmonton Eskimos are in 7th and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 8th.

Bo Levi Mitchell could very well get the call for the Stamps on Friday though Huf would not commit himself saying only that the line-up would be Bo, Drew and then Kevin.

We are midway through the season now and time to look at MOP of the first half. The honors go to Ricky Ray. He just edged out two Rider players DD and Kory due to his spectacular start this season with a 78% completion rate – 10 pts above all other CFL QBs – 15 TDs.

Finally, it appears that Mike Reilly is getting lots of love in Twitterland this week. Players and fans around the league let their fingers do the tapping as they lauded the Eskimo QB. Gotta love that Warrior Spirit. Rock on Michael.

Week 11 Schedule

Friday: Calgary at Edmonton 6pm PST/9pm EST
Saturday: BC at Hamilton 1pm PST/4pm EST
Sunday: Toronto at Montreal 10 am PST/1pm EST
Sunday: Saskatchewan at Winnipeg 1pm PST/4pm EST

Now that looks sweet! That's amazing art.

Where are the DariOs? No DariOs?

You still need the pancake mix, the windshield washer fluid, the BBQ sauce, bar set, beach towels, golf balls, chocolate bars, the beer box watermelon, the Mike's Hard Rider lime, salt and pepper, toilet paper, oven mitts, welcome mat, golf club socks...

The next addition will really be a prize possession.

Great team, great people and great province - you can't keep them down cause they just keep popping up when you least expect it.

Luckless, hapless, leaderless or just plain disorganized – no matter how one chooses to characterize the 2013 Edmonton Eskimos – winners they aren’t. Will they be able to pull it together sometime in the next 8 weeks – no one seems to have an answer to that question least of all the GM or coaches.

After more or less demanding that his QB Mike Reilly be given more protection it was same-old on the field. Mike gets the snap, falls back for the throw and blam is driven to the turf – play after play. Watching this, I couldn’t help but notice that the continuing hits/tackles are finally having an effect on Mike’s Warrior Spirit. Whereas he might once have fearlessly carried the ball or fought his way through defenders, Mike seemed to be more cautious about staying in the pocket or rolling out to find his receivers. On more than one occasion he had open receivers downfield but chose to go to a near-side player with little success. I don’t blame Mike, after all one can take only so many of those punishing hits before your natural defensive posture takes over.

At least Edmonton fans will not be treated to another rant after this latest defeat as GM Ed Hervey was reprimanded by the league for his remarks about Simeon Rottier – seems that Ed broke the CBA rules by publicly calling out a player.

For fans of the CFL the pitiful state of affairs in Edmonton is reason for concern especially as the Eskimos are not the only team struggling for a win this year. Surely hope that someone in the Edmonton organization can motivate the team enough to improve their losing record for the latter half of the season.

In the second of the LD rematches this week the Hamilton Ti-Cats prevailed over the visiting BC Lions – just. After getting off to a strong start in the first three quarters, the Ti-Cats faltered badly in the last Q as they watched their lead slip away against a surging Lion’s team bent on revenge.

After a 55-yard drive that saw Shawn Gore cross the goal line, the Lions were down by 19 points. BC would come within 11 points of a tie, after a 43-yard drive capped by a 5-yard pass to Nik Moore for the TD. Then on the Ti-Cats next possession, Hank threw an interception into the waiting hands of BC’s Ryan Phillips at the Cat’s 14 yard line giving the Lions one more crack at a major. Hamilton’s defense came to the fore preventing BC from getting across the goal line on their first attempt and finishing with a sack on Travis.

Dan LeFevour took over pivot duties after Hank got a tongue-lashing from Kent Austin for his decision to throw into heavy coverage resulting in the interception. LeFevour was able to move the team into FG territory and Luca Congi put 3 more points up for the Cats.

Trailing 37 – 22 with a little over 4 minutes left on the clock, the Lions mounted a 75-yard drive after converting on 3 and 10 finishing with a 15-yard TD toss to Taylor in the end zone to pull w/in 8 points.

In a gutsy move that had Hamilton fans collectively holding their breath, Kent Austin sent his short-yardage team onto the field at their own 31-yard line facing 3 and short. Dan easily pushed over the BC D-line for the first down to keep possession of the ball.

BC would get the ball back with 10 seconds remaining but a valiant attempt to keep the ball and get downfield resulted in a wild finish in which the ball changed hands a number of times before Hamilton was able to grab it as time ran out.

The Toronto vs Montreal game is about to get underway on TSN. It will be followed by the Banjo Bowl in Winnipeg.

GO ARGOS! GO RIDERS!

The Lions are looking pretty toothless these days.

They do seem to have a bit of a problem with away games this year, Kreskin.

Like whack a mole but gophers instead?

Ewh! Not a game I would be playing. Having grown up on a farm, I have intimate knowledge of gophers - even got bitten by one through a very thick pair of Dad's gloves - never tried to pet one again. LOL! They are one of the most industrious and persistent little varmints I have ever seen much like Sask folks.

Hey, how're the Esks doing?

You really want to know Spade? They are currently sitting in last place in our Division and last place overall in the league with 1 win and 9 losses. Pretty sad stuff in Iglooville these days.

Lions have a problem with any games this year.

Yeah, but they have really cool uniforms. I would be very surprised if the Lions didn't start improving - they are team you can't seem to keep down for long. They find a way.

We so deserve to lose this game. What a mess. Good on the Bombers for hanging in there. Great game by young Justin. Have serious question about coaching by the entire Rider staff. Not the least with the decision to leave Darian in the game. Personally, I would have pulled DD after the first half - he did nothing but struggle throughout it and threw an interception. By the 3rd Q, Drew should have been in for sure. But it was not to be and the Blue and Gold get their first win in a very long time...........but best of all they get it in front of their fans in their new building. Good on the entire team. Congratulations to all those fans who hung in there. Sold-out crowd today.

Final Score: 25 to 13 Winnipeg Blue Bombers
