I wonder how Ray is feeling tonight - hopefully, he's ok but I haven't heard any updates yet on his condition.

I checked the Argos site and TSN, gopher - no word on Rickie yet - maybe after the weekend.

Did you get to watch the Stampeder's game, gopher? What a comeback by the Stamps. Don't know what Montreal is going to do now - one quarter of good football is not enough to win games. Kevin Glenn was injured in the game - will be looking for updates on him now too.

Watching BC and Edmonton right now. BC is leading 24 to 13 midway through the 4th. I called them for this one. If they win, I will be 3 for 3 in my picks - Go Lions.

Nope - didn't get a chance to watch Stampeder's game. Glad you liked it. I watched some pro boxing instead.

Right now I'm watching Charlie Rose after watching BBC News.

Yeah that's gone on and on.

Was much more interested in the Ashes series which resumes next week. I'm surprised Brits aren't more excited about the thrashing they've been giving the Aussies.

Yeah that's gone on and on.

Expect it to go on for a long time.

Widdums has yet to propel some royal vomit onto momma for the first time, and of course, there is the first royal crapping of the nappies... All of this to be reported on, analyzed by the media (and 'experts' no doubt) as well as the vast marketing opportunities that will jump into the mix.

Ashes ~ sorta like a cricket World Series between the Brits & Ozmen. They've been playing it since the 1880s and the national honor is at stake. I'd much rather watch this than all that talk about the little runt that was born to the royal clan.

I just watched the British-Canadian movie "Full Circle" starring Mia Farrow which was called the "Haunting of Julia" here in the States. It was well liked back in the day but I found it a trifling boring.

I've become addicted to the new gameshow on ITV1 called "Take on the Twisters".

The show began airing last week as a summer replacement for the other gameshow, the extremely popular "The Chase", which is currently between series and is now the most-watched daytime show on ITV.

"Take on the Twisters", hosted by hillwalking enthusiast Julia Bradbury, sees four contestants taking in turns to answer a multiple choice question. Should each one get it right they choose one of eight giant sand timers each of a different colour - the colours are Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Green, Pink, White and Purple, each worth different amounts of cash ranging from £300 to £1,000 - to illuminate and they get to try and answer another question to try and illuminate another sand timer. If they get it wrong they cannot illuminate a sand timer. They can, however, decide to designate another contestant to answer the question and if that contestant gets it right THEY get to choose a sand time to illuminate.

Whoever illuminates the sixth sand timer gets to "take on the twisters". They have a minute to answer quickfire general knowledge questions whilst attempting to keep as many of the six sand timers illuminated as possible. By shouting "TWIST RED" or "TWIST GREEN" the sand timer of that colour turns itself upside down. If the sand runs in any sand timers then it goes out of play. Each sand timer is worth a hidden amount of money, and the quicker the sand timer runs the more its worth. So quick sand timers are worth a lot and slow ones are worth a little amount. So the contetsant taking on the sand timers can try and work out which timers are quicker ones and try and keep them running, ensuring the sand doesn't run out.

If they keep any sand timers in play at the end of the 60 seconds then thir totals are revealed and the contestant banks the total value of all those sand timers. If the values of all 8 Twisters are revealed, then their amounts are worth double and will remain doubled for the rest of the game. The person with the most money at the end gets to the final round and they take on the twisters to try and win that amount.

It's the First Day (of five) of the Third Ashes Test (of five) between England and Australia right now. Today's play started at 11am and is due to finish at 7pm. This Test is at Old Trafford in Manchester (or the Emirates Old Trafford as we have to call it now), the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club. Old Trafford has a capacity of 22,000 and was completed in 1857, making it England's second-oldest Test cricket ground after Lord's.

With England 2-0 up in the five-match Series they only need to draw this match to retain that precious Ashes urn.

Australia are currently 195-3 in the First Innings. Rogers made 84; Watson 19; Khawaja 1. Clarke is not out on 66 and Smith is not out on 24. Count in the one run scored by the one leg by that has been scored so far and Australia are currently on 195-3.

As for England's bowling, Swann is on 2-41 and Bresnan is on 1-38.

Australia now 207-3 in the First Innings.

They are having their best match of the Series so far.

England are looking to win an Ashes Series for the third time in succession for the first time since 1981.

It's 2.22pm on the Second Day of the Third Test of the Ashes between England and Australia at a sweltering Old Trafford in Manchester

Australia are on top and are currently on 426-5. I have a feeling it may not be long until they decide to declare and put England in to bat.

Australia captain Clarke is the man of the match so far. He's currently not out on 187. His batting partner Haddin is not out on 34.

England's best bowler so far has been Graeme Swann. He's so far taken 4-123.

Clarke celebrates getting his 150

Steve Smith smacks it to score more runs for the Aussies

Michael Clarke and Steve Smith now hold the record for the highest fourth-wicket stand for any Test side at Old Trafford. In taking their partnership beyond 189, they bettered Sanjay Manjrekar and Mohammad Azharuddin's alliance for India in 1990.

Got him! England have finally got Clarke out. He's gone for a whopping 187.

New batsman Siddle has also gone for just 1. Australia are now 430-7.

"Broadchurch". Only seen the first episode so far but it looks promising. I'm thinking it's a clone of "The Killing", found the first season of that one gripping, seems to be a challenge to find the second season on disc so far. Hearing good things about "Top of the Lake" as well.

Oz men played with far greater spirit now that they're in jolly ol' England.

Tonight I watched Guyana's Amazon Warriors > Jamaica's Tallawahs in cricket.

Great to see the Windies have their own premier cricket league. And the cheegirls were awesomely cute. :)

Broadchurch - involving the death of a young boy on the Dorset coast and the search for his killer - was brilliant. It does, of course, star the former Doctor Who David Tennant (the new actor to play Doctor Who, replacing Matt Smith, is being announced live on the BBC tomorrow). It was one of the most-watched programmes in history on ITV when it was originally broadcast earlier this year.

My mum was a huge fan of it. Series 2 is coming out next year.

Apparently the Americans are making their own version of it. As usual when the Yanks make their own versions of British shows I doubt it will be as good as the original.

. :)

It's the Third Day of the Third Test at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Australia yesterday declared on 527-7 in the First Innings.

England are currently 79-3 in reply, trailing by 448 runs.

Captain Alistair Cook is not out on 53. He's the only English batsman to reach double figures so far.

The only bright spot so far for England in this match is the fact that Graeme Swann took bowling figures of 5-159.

Ryan Harris celebrates getting Jonathan Trott out for just 5 runs

Kevin Pietersen is currently batting for England. His highest score on this ground is 68

These fans - don't know whether they're Pom or Aussie - going into Old Trafford this morning are obviously fans of Cool Runnings

Despite being under the cosh so far in this match, England's fans - the Barmy Army - are still in fine voice at Old Trafford

The long hovercraft carrying the pitch covers was brought on earlier as a few drops of rain started to fall but, thankfully, it wasn't needed

I didn't know the West Indies had their own version of the Indian Premier League.

I prefer my traditional Test cricket but One Day cricket with its fireworks and loud music and dancing cheerleaders every time a wicket is taken, and teams with colourful kits and names like Lancashire Lightning, Kent Spitfires, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils, is great fun.

Australia's Big Bash tournament - which is a tournament for T20 cricket, which is fast-paced cricket limited to just twenty overs per side which was invented in England in 2003 - even has flashing wickets!

It's lunch on Day Three of the Third Test and England are on 119-4 after 57.0 overs, and are trailing by 408 runs.

Cook scored 62 before being caught by Haddin off a Starc ball. That 62 comprised seven fours.

Pietersen is not out on 33 and Bell is not out on 4.

Thanks for those updates, Blackie.

I watched part of today's innings and while the Brit batsmen played with determination, I wondered if the margin was too large for them to catch up. Will watch again tomorrow ...

As for the Caribbean Premier League - this is a new league just started this season. This evening I watched as Barbados defeated Trinidad. Interestingly, their coaches are Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes who at one time were paired as batsmen for the Windies in the days when they were the among the best teams in the game. How I would love to see those days return!

Kevin Pietersen has brought England back in it.

Until yesterday his highest ever score at Old Trafford was 68, but yesterday he managed to get a total of 113 before getting out lbw to Starc.

Pietersen's efforts mean England have surpassed the 328 runs they needed to avoid the follow-on. If England had been all out and were 200 or more runs behind after that First Innings the Windies would have had the option of making England bat again, but England have surpassed that 328 they needed to get to avoid the follow-on. They are currently on 361-9, and are trailing by 166 in the First Innings. Prior is on 28 and new batsman Anderson is on 0.

The good news for England is that rain is forecast today, so if England can avoid losing that last wicket and keep batting until it rains then all they have to do is hope that it rains for a long time, which would keep delaying play and make a draw in this match more likely. With a 2-0 lead in the five-match Series England would retain the Ashes urn with a draw in this match. So bring on the rain!

Hopefully it won't be long until they televise it. The Indian Premier League is shown live on ITV2, every match.

Oh, for a return to those days!

I don't remember that match but I do know that Greenidge and Haynes were probably the world's best batting partnership in the 1980s, maybe even of all time. Haynes was also a legend for Middlesex. Believe it or not, Greenidge ended up playing for minnows Scotland later on in his career.

I like that video. There's no better sight than watching a series of sublime cricket shots.

England are 367-9 now on this Fourth day of the Third Test, trailing by 160.

Oops. So much for batting until it rains.

England have just lost their last wicket - Prior c Warner b Siddle 30 - and are all out for 368, in reply to Australia's 527-7 dec.

Australia are to start the Second Innings with a lead of 159.

Australia are 5-0 at the start of the Second Innings, a lead of 164.

The opening partnership is Rogers and Warner, a guy that the English love to hate at the moment because of his dirty play.

Things aren't looking so rosy for Australia now.

Not only are they on 172-7 in the Second Innings but bad light has stopped play.

Australia lead by 331, but stoppage in play is the last thing they want. The more stoppage in play there is the more likely this match will peter out as a draw - and that would mean England retaining the Ashes.
