Canadian Maximum Security Prisons.

You obviously suffer from the same malady as Bear. Canadian does not mean federal, it means in Canada. If I say I spent a night in an American jail do you automatically interpret that as meaning run by the US federal govt? Or is it quite possible I just mean somewhere in the US?

wow...... dense just doesn't cover it.The only "maximum security prisons" in Canada are run Federally. You don't get dumped into a max security federal prison with a sentence of less than 2 years. You get put into a provincial jail.

Ok, well as I understand it real world is jail is pretty much the same except there are more "get out of jail free" cards, mostly in the 2 for 1 time served way.

Is $200.00 still involved somewhere?

Once again....there are provincially run facilities that are maximum security. All pre-trial holding centers are run at a provincial level and are also maximum security. There are also other provincial institutions that are either entirely or partially maximum security. Ocalla in Burnaby was entirely maximum security and was also entirely provincial before its demolition. Brandon Lake in Nanaimo is a provincial jail and is 60% maximum security. You really should get your facts straight before launching into a tirade showing your lack of knowledge and understanding.

It's Brannen Lake and it's a medium security provincial that houses 225 serving sentences of 2 years less a day or less. As for Oakalla (note spelling, stupid), it closed in 1991 so what and who it housed is moot.

So sorry about the spelling mistake....NOT! Since I have never had the pleasure of entering either facility I wouldn't know or care about the correct spelling of their names.

Now back to the actual issue....

Please do explain how the provincial facilities at Wilkinson Rd in Victoria or the North Fraser facility in Maple Ridge? Both are maximum security provincial facilities.

Now in case you need further education when a person is sentenced to time in jail, even if it is only a few days, they are immediately sent to a maximum security facility for classification (a decision on whether they are a flight risk or dangerous to the community or other inmates) and then if it is determined applicable they get moved to medium or minimum security. That means the province MUST have maximum security jails.

I found this on prisons for women in Ontario:
All but two of the Ontario provincial institutions holding women are con

According to MCSCS, classification is a continuous process that starts when
you are admitted into a prison and continues until your sentence is over.
The assessment process you will go through is largely aimed at determin

are to attempt to escape, and what risk you might pose to the community if
you were released or escaped to the community on the date they assess you.

please not the term "jail", Prison's are federal and jails are provincial. The author of the OP referred to a "Maximum security Prison"

Also, if you are serving less than 2 years you will be in a "jail". If you are serving 2 years or more you will be in a "prison".

Even if you don't believe his account, read carefully:

"concentrate them in the prisons and torture them like World War Two Prison Camps including rapes, that was verbaly confirmed to me by someone in the prisons I was incarcerated in."

You see, a fellow inmate VERBALLY CONFIRMED the rapes and torture.
How much more proof do you need? Keep hiding your head in the sand, you muggles.

Oh whatever!
You go explain that to the people on the wrong side of the bars and see if they care about your 'official' definitions.

Also, if you are serving less than 2 years you will be in a "jail". If you are serving 2 years or more you will be in a "prison".
Locked up is locked up. The correct vernacular is of no importance. The terms are synonymous to most people and each facility houses criminals so who really cares other than you.
