No, I'm sure they're too busy measuring.
Really? Stereotypes? That's where you're going to go with this?
The conversation was based on what was being directly observed... Nothing more, nothing less

Actually, that I see, on a regular basis. No, I'm sure they're too busy measuring.
yeah they just whine for hours that they didn't get any of the regular Sunday morning waffles.I've spent a lot of time in the oil field, camps and the office and have yet to hear any men cut-up another guy for the clothes they wear, maybe retaining a little water or general smearing for no reasons whatsoever

It's part of the male experience.

Really? I have. Maybe it's a matter of whether you feel men are always justified for some reason.
Funny... Just because I observe (past and present tense) this equates to some kind of male justification?
Sounds to me like you don't like hearing an opinion that isn't parallel to yours
Or what the substance of the grievance is.
As Dex mentions, pulling ones weight, is a frequent gripe.
Ones hair, nails or wearing white after Labour Day, just never seems to come up.
It really isn't the actual length or girth, so much as it is about dominance. Who is and who isn't.
My point was superficial posturing is as much a part of the male persona as the female one, that we may or may not tend to do so in different ways, doesn't change that.
Sure it is, it would be foolish to think otherwise.
From what I have seen though, the degree and manner in which this dynamic is expressed is vastly different between the sexes and quite frankly, what I have seen of this dynamic with men, while possibly equally frequent, the event occurs, the bitching happens and then it's done... Time to move on.
The cycle seems to be a lot different with women and last a lot longer and go back aeons when necessary.
What I meant was that it seems men tend to feel other men are justified in their anger/cattiness, but women aren't. Not that you're trying to justify males on the whole.
The one that's more willing to work for less pay.Nope.
So I have to ask... Who's more qualified to bake cookies, a female art grad with no work experience in the field, or a male high school grad with no work experience in the field?
Ah, but the female with Arts may be willing to stay and improve the business for mutual benefit. Some pretty damned artistic cookies, cakes, etc. being made around the world. Seriously.Going that both have no idea on how to cook I would take the male. Reason is simple - the Arts Grad will always be looking for a better job as she would consider this work low skilled and beneath her qualifications.
That's for damned sure. Try spending four days on duty in a firehouse that's mostly fulla guys. There is as much drama with men as with women. I have 18 guys on my crew from 20 to 56 and it never ends...

Then just what do you call practical experience in formal education when learning how to use calipers, oscilliscopes, etc.? If you haven't been formally educated in applied physics, you'd most likely not have a clue in a practical job requiring said applied physics. DUHMost people have been conditioned to ignore context when trigger words like discrimination are used. Practical experience is education.
If you have no practical experience then you have not been educated. Education is seen as number of years in such and such an institution as can be seen in your engineering students who clearly have not been educated about calipers, drifts etc; even though the paper work may indicate education.
Thank you for stating that because, as a woman who has managed a fair degree of success both personally and professionally without outside intervention, every time I get a survey or statistic thrown at me suggesting women 'need' to be afforded these privileges in order to succeed, it feels really demeaning.
But I do find it frustrating when I hear women complain that the reason, and the only reason, they can't get ahead is because of men. Especially in the business world. Because that is like saying to me that I got ahead despite the fact that I am not a man. B.S., I got ahead because I'm competent and capable. And honestly, despite potentially having the required qualifications for a position, if I were hired simply for what's between my legs, I would be insulted by that. Because I've worked hard for my qualifications and they have value to me. I wouldn't work for a place like that to be truthful.

The content of the drama is irrelevant. Men and women simply have different issues to be dramatic about.I've spent a lot of time in the oil field, camps and the office and have yet to hear any men cut-up another guy for the clothes they wear, maybe retaining a little water or general smearing for no reasons whatsoever
lol It's just the boys n girls being drama queens, Andem.Let's get back on-topic and stop bickering.
Like the Hatfields n McCoys? HatfieldSure it is, it would be foolish to think otherwise.

huh?One from Edmonton, cook, pastry had hers in the Oscars swag bag.
I'm sorry, if your shoes look like **** then you look like ****. Yes, I tell my colleagues when I think they have a funny looking outfit on, but I am probably the exception that proves the rule.

Well, the stereotype women are fighting is the idea that they are the weaker sex and they need protecting. Quotas are doing the opposite of helping that. I would also argue that victim perspective defined sexual harassment definitions perpetuate the glass ceiling much more than any outright sexism could ever hope to.
This is the single most annoying thing about mistaken radical feminism: the idea that men and women are treated different and only men are to blame for inequality. The single worst part of systemic sexism is that women are just as likely to purvey it as men are, that is what makes it systemic.
