A Massachusetts primary care doctor adopted a new screening process for new patients this past spring: She no longer takes women who weigh more than 200 pounds, Boston's WCVB reports.

A woman named Ida Davidson learned of this policy when she was seeking an appointment with Dr. Helen M. Carter and was rejected as a result of her weight.

Was she 80 lbs. over weight or 40 inches under height?

If someone goes to their doctor and says "I'm gonna have sex and want to be safe" and the doctor refuses to discuss it for their own personal reasons they are not putting the welfare of their patient first, which they are supposed to do, therefore have to assume some responsibility for any outcome. Does the patient bear responsibility also, of course, but would their actions or the outcome be different if they had received proper counselling, including abstinence, and effective birth control, most likely.

Point is Gerry, the doctor swears an oath to put the welfare of the patient ahead of their personal beliefs and this dumb b*itch isn't doing that. She needs her license revoked.

Of course, how stupid of me, string the stunned c*nt up by the tits. How dare she counsel abstinence as the only type of birth control that is 100% effective and not bother with the forms that are not completely effective. How dare she not counsel and support the murder of a child.

She can, and should, counsel abstinence but her job, and the oath she swore, demands she also provide information on other options. Stop being a f*cking drama queen. If this doctor, using the term lightly, and you for that matter, wants to prevent abortion the first step is preventing unwanted pregnancies. Grow a brain & get a grip. Stop turning a question of if a doctor is living up to their responsibilities and their duty into your personal tirade against abortion.

BTW, abortion is only murder to the religious zealots. You can scream its murder all you want but the legal system defines it to not be a crime ergo it is not murder.

and the "religious zealots" aren't the ones that turned this thread into an abortion thread.

Most doctors are dumber than a sack of hammers. They spent all their years reading medical literature and haven't a clue what happened in the world beyond it.

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
You keep deluding yourself with that thought if it makes you feel better but we both know it will never be considered a crime.

Ever tried going to a doctor and just saying "I don't feel well" and not answering any questions or pointing to where it hurts? They will spend $100,000 on tests and still won't be able to figure out what's wrong with you.

Nick- one of the main admonitions of the Hippocratic Oath is "Do no harm".

Right! What you have to remember when it comes to abortion is that it is the mother that is the patient, not the fetus. Not giving a woman who wants one an abortion is harming the patient physically and mentally. Not giving contraception to somebody asking for it is harming your patient both physically (causing an unwanted pregnancy) and mentally. If someone wants to use their job to further their own anti-abortion agenda they should become a catholic priest, not a doctor.

The embryo doesn't die until a few hours to days after the abortion is over in most forms of abortion.

Abortion isn't murder. If you really insist on pigeon holing it because you are incapable of discussing it unless you can claim it is something else, the closest fit would be negligence causing death.

Moreover, why stop at abortion? You should also be insisting that in vitro fertilization is murder as well. Of course if you were honest and also went around claiming "IVF is murder!" people would quickly realize how foolish the position is.
