yeah, well I shouldn't say a "new group" it's just they are starting to really get noticed.. they have been around 20 years.. I have my water wings on. ;)

I am guessing they are from Nova Scotia then, based out of Toronto?... ooops

The band was formed in 1991 when Chris Murphy and Andrew Scott met at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) in Halifax; Patrick Pentland and Jay Ferguson joined soon after. In 1992 the band created their own record label, Murderecords, for themselves and other Halifax area bands, and released the Peppermint EP.

I think that's my favorite song of theirs.

Where are they getting more attention? They seem to have always been popular here for as long as I can remember.

Toby Keith is only big in country circles. Maybe some political ones too. I guess it depends what genres you're into.

Sloan has been getting lots of airplay on the radio/music channels since the 90s. They also tour a lot. Id say they're about on par with the Tragically Hip or Blue Rodeo in Canada. Not quite, but close. Outisde of Canada almost no one has heard of any of them, which is nice. We get to keep them that way.

That's okay.... Some folk are just discovering the Beatles....

Sad but true. I went to see Paul McCartney last year. My sister asked what he was known for. It was a sad moment.
