With some reservation I voted yes for the following reasons.
Our society has not embraced a foreign concept to them and
we leave the Muslims isolated and marginalized. That makes
them prey to idiots.
We don't all have to become Muslims I am not saying that but I
do believe we have to include them in community as a whole.
We must encourage them to understand they are not living in
the Middle East or the Asian societies they came from. We have
a democracy. and we have an open society where some or all
of us have the right to be offended from time to time its not the
end of the world.
The problem is it requires patients and understanding to have
people understand the differences in customs, religion and
rights and freedoms. The other thing that troubles me is, we don't
prepare people for the vast change before they get here.
If we simply ignore them or huddle in the corner when someone cries
fowl, we are headed for trouble eventually. Do I think we should be
afraid they are all terrorists and prone to violence? No not at all.
