The Flossys and Mulcairs of the world don't understand that the costs to business gets passed directly onto consumers. They live in very simple worlds based on pretend problems and fantasy-solutions.
It's 100% up to the consumer. They do know right from wrong without laws and penalties but still choose to consume because they are free to choose.

We could limit the choices and reduce product choices by picking and choosing what is good for the consumer, "the environment" and what they should pay, who should manufacture it.

It was tried before but we all know how that ended.

Bitter tears, etc..

Don't cry Flossy.... Think about taking a few minutes and have a pretend tea.

No doubt.

All these attempts at trying to control a global market is futile at best, but there's always some fool that thinks the world revolves them

At least someone is talking about solutions now. That's a welcome change.
Ok, but that solution looks expensive.

Add that to Mulcair's and Fuzzy's idea of throttling oil flow, and you have a recipe for wild price hikes, and increase demand on the public coffers.

Both of which end up coming out of our pockets.

It would be neat if it was an ideological rant...

I've seen what throttling oil does to gas prices. Actually, so have you. OPEC can open taps right now and drop the bottom out of the price of a barrel.

Conversely, they can turn them back and cause the price to go up.

The number of committees and NGO's and so on, listed in your article, though beneficial in nature, have a cost dude, whether or not you are capable of recognizing it.

Who's going to foot the bills? How much will the bill be? There are all sorts of questions that need to be addressed.

That's not being an ideologue, that's being a realist. Something you should try getting a grip on.

Maybe you should ease up on the projection, you look silly when you get all mad and divisive.

What about all your ranting about 'sustainable development', the statement reeks of quotas... How about your resurrecting cap and trade, it has a similar net effect when only applied to one sector.

I actually scoped the word throttle from one of your posts.

"Sustainable extraction" is by its very nature a constriction of extraction.

Your dishonesty, and aversion to reasoned discussion, comes as no surprise.

How about the other retarded suggestion - 'sustainable development' (whatever that means)

I like the idea, but have to see how it will be articulated in the context of the oil sands before I make judgement.

Or, you know, I could just be like..

**** those ****ing eco-fascists!! **** them for taking my tax dollars!! those little pukey ****s!!!!!

But, then I'd be like you and Bear.

You don't even know what it really means, do ya? Can't even define your own position, but I see that you put a lot of stock in parroting cliche statements.

All show and no substance there Flossy.

Redford unlikely to meet with Mulcair during his oilsands visit

Premier Alison Redford will put out a welcome mat of sorts for Thomas Mulcair, but it's unlikely she will actually meet face-to-face with the federal NDP Leader when he travels to Alberta next week.

Redford and Mulcair have been at loggerheads over the New Democrat's contention oilsands production from Alberta isn't properly regulated and is partially responsible for hollowing out Canada's manufacturing sector in a case of "Dutch disease."

Mulcair is coming to the province at the end of the month, but Redford will be travelling in the United States in a trip whose details have not yet been released.

Redford told reporters if she can't meet with Mulcair, deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk will take her place.

The premier said she was glad Mulcair will travel to Fort McMurray.

"One of the things I did suggest is that he should inform himself of the issues," Redford said.

"I don't think anyone should expect that we're going to get into a situation where anyone representing the government of Alberta is going to sit in a meeting room and try to lobby Mr. Mulcair to change his mind. But we're certainly happy to respond to a meeting request."

With those comments, Redford acknowledged she was thinking of film director and environmentalist James Cameron, who made a trip to the oilsands in 2010 that led to criticism Alberta over-reacted to his high-profile journey.

Linda Duncan, Alberta's only NDP MP, said it was unlikely Mulcair would actually tour any oilsands projects on this trip because of timing issues. He is likely to do so later in the summer.

"You don't have to actually go to the oilsands to fully comprehend what's going on in the industry, but he will eventually have a complete tour there," Duncan said Wednesday.

"So in this brief stopover that he has, he's going to try to meet with some unions, the mayor . . . and he'll tie in the premier as well, so he's trying to fit in as much as he can."

Mulcair contends his fight is with the federal Conservative government, not the natural resource-rich western provinces. But he dismissed complaints from Redford, Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall and British Columbia Premier Christy Clark about his position, describing them as "messengers" for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Redford will host Wall and Clark - as well as Manitoba's NDP Premier Greg Selinger - at the annual meeting of Western Premiers' next week in Edmonton and Mulcair is likely to come up in the conversation.

The meeting will likely include an emphasis on environmental legislation and a focus, led by B.C., on family and community development, said Redford.

She will also talk with Wall about advancing the idea of a Canadian energy strategy.
