It's so wonderful we live in a country where the government can make up any crazy version of reality it likes and try and force us to follow along.

I'm just waiting to be told by the Conservatives what religion to follow, who to vote for(via robocall), what foods to eat, what I can watch for entertainment etc...

What happened to freedom in this country?
You and I may leave any time we wish. There are countries that you may not leave.

That's not an option to guys like redmonton or MF... They demand that you are forced to live in a society based exclusively on how they define it... Interesting version of 'freedom' they have, ain't it?

This coming from the guy who thinks that a well-documented Nature article is tinfoil, rofl

Minister offers contradictory rationale for shutting down advisory panel

Environment Minister Peter Kent had initially said the reason for the closure was because such research can now be easily accessed through the Internet, and through universities and other think tanks.

But Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said Monday the shuttering of the round table had more to do with the content of the research itself.

Maybe Baird got tired of these scientists dealing in opinions rather than facts... There's nothing stopping Suzuki from keeping them afloat

Actually, there is a valid scientific argument for some kind of carbon tax, but at the same time I don't see the point of wasting money on an organization the government will ignore anyway.

Public awareness that they're screwing up.

Well, Cap'n! Where to begin. Your post suggests that you think you know something about the climate change matter . It actually displays overwhelming ignorance.

Stern is a most respected economist. One affirded the highest honours by the British government and no "Left" Winger. His report was of studies done for the British government but about climate change in general not just the effects on Britain. It was a report on the economic implications.

And they were hopeful if the issue was addressed immediately but scarier by the decade if not. We are now at about the 2% cost thanks to Bush and Harper primarily. The only political leaders who deliberately prevented action.

Harper is now alone in the world in that.

As for Mann (not Stern) and the Hockey Stick, you must be about the only one left who still takes comfort from that fraud MccIntyre's slanders.

Too funny... Lord Stern had his ass handed to him on the hockey stick graph and resulting theory... Red noise replicated his results almost exactly, whoda thunk it that plotting random points on a graph would debunk that fraudster; such a simple solution

But you continue on with your adoration of Stern and willful ignorance of the political lack of will to do anything about it, especially the non-participation of the globes 2 largest emitters... That alone should tell you that the entire movement is a facade.
