First period tonight was rather disconnected 'by both teams', raggedy and looked like pick up hockey.
Second period was better, the game began to come together, got quite exciting, lots of physical play,
some heavy hitting, etc.
Excellent goal by kesler, beautiful passing all the way up the ice, looked great.
Montreal scored, game tied at 1
Canucks didn't show much in the way of offense at all, sedins are still absent, and its beginning to
look very bad, and of course that includes burrows, as he can't play well if they aren't playing well,
they are the machine that should make that first line go, and they are out of gas, out of oil, out
of energy, and look very ordinary.
Luongo looked very bad on the second goal, but then the 5 on 3 penalties created another goal, not his fault.
But I thought he looked quite panicky, even on many of his saves, fought the puck many times, and of
course Price down at the other end, was his usual 'very casual' self, as he always is, and played a
very solid game.
The game was up for grabs, and montreal grabbed it, and thats all she wrote.
officials really let lots of things go, but it was for both teams, canucks put
up with lots of hitting without any pushback till kassian finally stepped up
and had a fight, don't know if that solved anything, but the canucks had to
respond to all of those big hits they were taking, can't just ignore that part
of the game, the more they ignore it, the more they will be hit, show a bit of
pride and do some crunching right back, it's only body checking, part of the
game, do it.
As playoffs draw nearer I really notice the officiating changing, don't understand
why that is happening, it seems to be accepted that this happens at this time of
the year, why is that.
There is more being let go, penalties for all teams are way down, players are
getting away with the types of checks that was a penalty a month ago, so I guess
playoffs will be just like they were last season, which officials turning a blind
eye to illegal play.
sure takes away from the speed and finess of good hockey.
