I've been doing a little thinking, Talloola (surprise surprise). The Sedins have been on the team 13 years and are starting to get a little "long in the tooth" (in hockey years) and yet it seems to go without saying that they should be leading the way in the scoring- do you think that is still a realistic expectation. Maybe Burrows, Booth, LaPierre, Higgins, Hansen, Kesler should be starting to take over that role. What do you think? (IF Cannuck doesn't jump in ahead of you with his ultimate wisdom):lol:
Well, that is what I have been thinking for awhile, that 'they' are beginning to wind down, which is what
we all do, but in the hockey world, some players, as soon as they reach 30 begin to show that, and others
don't, so it is not really criticizing them to wonder if that is happening to them, and at the same time
the game has sped up so much that their lack of great skating doesn't help them either. We'll see by the
end of this season, as if they still have 'IT' it will come back before the playoffs.
The team definitely needs others to step up and score goals, and that second line now with higgins fully
healthy, and showing his old form should do that, and a few goals can be scored from the 3rd and 4th lines,
but the team needs the top two lines to do most of the scoring, and right now that isn't happening, hopefully
that starts tonight.
If the second line steps up and gets consistent, it will no longer be the second line, but that will be
their title anyway, it will be easy to recognize what line as actually the top line, and maybe that
transition is beginning to take place.
And, kassian will gradually make his presence known too, he has lots of potential, just needs some time to
settle in more, and begin to do his stuff, we have seen glimpses of what he is capable of, but he is so
young, I would never put any pressure on him or expect him to make a big difference quickly, but it will
happen.
