I walked through the Toronto "Occupy" zone last night, what a joke. The highlight of it was watching people bang drums and smoke weed in the park gazebo.

It would help if they were anywhere near Bay street... They're at Church and King, in the St Lawrence Market District opposed to the Financial.

It's a farce. And really, nobody cares much about 'them'.

These bored crybabies will soon go home to mom and dad. Proud folks they must have.

If they had a unified agenda and interest people might actually be supportive of their campaign.

The campaign was to get people talking on a number of different issues. Them acting like complete idiots is just attention grabbing. The irony is that they've been trolling the trolls this whole time, so every time someone sighs in disgust (see sucker: Locutus) it's +1 for more attention.

By the way, two Occupy threads are greater one.

This happens any time there is an event in Toronto though, every special interest group jumps on board and low and behold, the original message is lost in the mess of competing agendas.

Doesn't matter.

All you need is the meme: "Occupy" to be repeated a billion times for success.

We don't get people living in parks here everytime there is a reason to get high and hang out downtown.

It's T.O. You don't really need to camp to get high anyway, but it is a pretty good excuse.

If they found a spokesperson that had a full set of teeth it might look better on TV.

There was about a half dozen new3s trucks there last night, I think they were hoping for a showdown of sorts between the occupiers and the cops.

What do you define as success in this situation?

I posted an article a while back in the other thread, but it identified one example wherein the mainstream media has brought more attention to wealth inequality since the protests began whereas there was rarely a peep about its importance in the past.

I think we all succumb to propaganda on both sides of the issue. The business
community are big bad and greedy, they care only about profit and that is that.
Truth is most people including some demonstrating, have their retirement funds
in companies that are trading on the markets. The people who have investments
are hoping the companies do well so they have money to retire on.

Contrast that with the slogans that get handed down, professional protesters, or
the welfare bums, or the anarchist radicals. and a host of other handles. Where
is the truth in all of this. Carefully hidden and out of sight for the most part.

The fact is many people protesting are social democrats and people on the left, there
are also thousands across the country who are conservatives, and liberals some are
well off, some are unemployed and some have no political affiliation at all they are
just fed up. And yes, there are some anarchists and some so called professional
protesters. Many are the people we recently championed, as the defenders of the
environmental cause. They will soon be championed for this cause too and it seems
to continue. Oh it will change its appearance and become more mainstream over
time, but it will gain ground as the economies of the world worsen as they will.

Ont the other side of the coin, the business community is getting pounded for the
things it really can't control and some of the protesters demand. The problem is not
with the companies, it is the problem of the stock market traders themselves, and the
day traders who drive prices up and down. Those who want retirement funds want
to maximize the markets, they also want the companies to be responsible.

Here is my opinion as to how it should work. We must restructure companies to
bring bonuses in line with reality, and we must ensure efficiency in management and
production. There must be regulations to demand honesty and police it and to
ensure ethics. it is sad but left to their own devices ethics and honesty get left at the
side of the road. As for the protesters they have to look themselves in the mirror
and admit they want profit.
I am sick to death of paying for the abuses of business and not getting the piece of
the pie ordinary folks are entitled to, I am not against profit or investment I just believe
companies and investment firms and investors must be responsible to the communities
they operate in. It is called mutual respect and honest business ethics and involvement
If those things happened there would be no need for professional protesters or angry
citizens

But then there's also feel good articles, like this one:

Occupy protesters plan "evict Rob Ford" march for Saturday

TORONTO, Ont. - After a temporary victory over City Hall, Occupy Toronto protesters say they are planning an "evict Rob Ford" march for Saturday.

It's not known how many people will participate or what exactly the protesters plan to do, except that the proposed start time would be 2 p.m.

Some members of the movement say some labour unions may also take part in the march.

It was a tense day at the occupy camp Tuesday, after city bylaw officers handed out eviction notices to the occupiers.

The occupiers reacted by having their lawyer, Susan Ursel, get an injunction from Justice David Brown to prevent the occupiers being evicted until Saturday at the earliest, when he is expected to make a decision.

After avoiding the eviction occupiers celebrated late into the night.

So there's something in there for everyone! :D

Let's have 3. Still doesn't change one thing. Nothing will change. Do you honestly think anybody is going to listen to Lotion Man?

From what I've read, it doesn't appear anyone with some sense of sanity is listening to Lotion Man - thankfully.
