And wouldn't Canada in particular, be the dumb ones to agree!!!! I can see it now - one bank owns the world.
So the Vatican is suggesting taxation on banks. How about taxation on the Vatican?

You can see the chaos created by the European Central Bank on a smaller scale. We essentially have a semblance of a World Central Bank in the IMF, a corrupt and corroded institution as are virtually all the supranational agencies that wield world dominance now. The Vatican has a unique perspective on the world. But its expertise is in matters of grace and salvation, not international finance.
What we need right now is the re-establishment of national political economies, with sovereign control of tariffs, currency and credit as existed prior to the onset of the cult of Monetarism... which is driving the world to ruin, and is in the control of an oligarchy of debauched traders and financiers.
There needs to be international agreements that fix narrow trading ranges for currencies, as existed with the Bretton Woods Agreement from 1946 to 1971 (essentially the gold standard), but the sovereign control of currencies needs to remain with the nation state.

There has never been a time when the Vatican was not a lever of global finance and war. Every corrupt human institution will call for one world government and central planetary banking with plastic. We shall know them by their works.
There is good and bad in the RCC, even Pope Benedict would acknowledge that, but it would be a mistake to think that it is all good or all bad. It is a human institution with all the corruptability or perfectability that term encompasses.
It is also a mistake to think that the Vatican controls anything.. that is all in the hands of those who wield political power. But it is in sole possession the gate of Truth, that will shape the destiny of the world.
Those in power all have Free Will. They also have God given consciences and reason that can discern between good and evil. They can chose to be informed by that greater good, or those of temporal and material indulgence.. which will lead to the greater bad.

Italy should invade the Vatican, take it over, sell all the junk in the church/museum and pay off their debts.
Great idea, DTM, too bad it doesn't have a hope in hell of being accomplished.
In its wars to unify the country in the 19th century, Italy disbanded the Papal states. So what Italy made-the Vatican, they can unmake. Yeah, but not likely.
