Canucks played well tonight, but nashville didn't look so good, and they lacked dicipline when score
became lopsided, and took too many penalties.

I thought sturm played his best game, finally looked like he's awake, and skating better, perhaps sitting
in the press box was irritating, and sent a message.

Luongo did his job, nothing heroic, just stopped pucks like he's suppose to, there wasn't anything amazing
shot his way, he was efficient.

Nashville need something more, they don't look competetive enough right now.

oh sorry kreskin, score was 5-1 I think, thats the last score I remember anyway. lol

Somebody said that Luongo at least built himself a temporary reprieve with the win. It wasn't a fantastic win in that he didn't
have to stand on his head or anything but the win will quiet down those calling for his head till the next game. A question I
have asked myself is "Is Luongo worth the money he is getting paid?" My answer would be, "No. Not so far this season".
Part of the problem is that long term, multi year, no trade, contract. If Luongo puts together six or seven solid games, (read
wins)everything will be just lovely, and all the nay-sayers will cool down, but only till the next slump. It's hard being a
millionaire.......Lol

That's the problem, some frickin' idiot (Bettman) probably has to shoulder some of the blame. Anyone who shovels over $64 million for anything, before the goods are proven bonafide, should be assigned to the asylum. Roberto is the scapegoat.

Luongo is not the highest paid player in the league, nor is he the highest paid
goaltender, or even the highest paid player on the team. Many players make
more money.
I would like to see more contracts based on performance rather than just time
served. What I don't like are these multi-year retirement contracts that go on
for years. I don't think that long contract was Gillis's best move.

The GMs have to take the blame, they could be more rigid about contracts, but they compete 'with each other',
and its like an auction, each year they keep offering more to 'get' players, so the other guy doesn't get
them.
All it takes is one or two players offered 'way too much' to open the flood gates, just as it did in the
summer with free agents, it was insane, and the players know they just have to 'wait' and those big
offers will come, they don't have to demand them. eg Erhoff in buffalo, and many others.

I just checked the team standings and see the Canucks are in a playoff position, which looks go me as they are generally at their lowest ebb at this time of the season, so will go up from here, probably to have home ice advantage again throughout the playoffs.

they started slow last season too, as well as luongo, guess we'll just have to get use to it.
washington are 6 and 0, different for them, maybe they will deflate somewhere along the way.

Thanks for the update Talloola. Nice to hear that our fragile Lui didn't have to stress over too much work.

next game is saturday at 1:00 p.m. CANUCKS VS WILD

The Canucks beat the Wild 3 - 2 in overtime. It was a pretty good game, the Canucks outshot the Wild
32 - 23. The Canucks had to come back from a one goal deficit twice but what the hell, they got the two
points. Next up is the Oilers..

canucks completed a trade today, gone is marco sturm and michael samuelsson and coming in to the canucks

is david booth from florida, and steven reinprecht also, but he is going to chicago wolves, and canucks

will also receive 3rd round draft pick.

Booth is 26, a good player, will probably push hodgson off of the second line, and play with

kesler and higgins, then the third line will be juggled I guess, not sure what vineault will do there.

Next saturday evening washington capitals comes into g.m. place to play canucks. Capitals are now 7 and 0
to start the season and tonight they beat detroit 7-1, which is very surprising, as detroit also has had
a very good start to their season SO canucks will have to be ready for this team which has had trouble
over the past few years, and haven't played up to their reputation, but right now they are looking awsome,
and on a big role, it would be nice to give them their first loss. Vancouver will have to be sharp,
hmmmm, wonder who will be in goal, probably luongo.

watched edmonton oilers defeat rangers tonight 2-0, it is getting more and more exciting watching those
kids in edmonton who are now coming into their own, even their new aquisition (ryan neugent hopkins),who is only 18 years
old is looking very good and has 5 goals on the season, so it seems they will probably let him play thru
the 10th game, which means they cannot send him back to juniors. He looks ready.
I know this isn't my team, but my appreciation of hockey goes further than tunnel vision to my own team,
there is much more to the NHL than one team, and to see and appreciate how good many other players are makes
my year more enjoyable, and also helps me to compare my team to the rest. When one watches one's own team
and won't look any further, you are limiting your own knowledge and makes one pretty closed minded, and also
tends to make one 'blame' their own team for everything that doesn't go right because they can't see
the other side.

Not sure about minnesota, they don't seem to have much going on, but it is early, will have to wait
and see.

The northwest division is looking a bit stronger this season, colorado is doing better as well, and
hopefully won't 'suck' all year like they did last season.
Calgary is definitely sucking big time, not sure what they will do to fix their problems, just have to
wait and see if they improve, but they haven't addressed problems they had last season, and iginla, as
good as he is, is getting older, a bit past his peak, but still a great player, and kiprisoff is still
playing great in goal, but he needs help too, plays far too many games and carrys this team on his back
much of the time.

Mason Raymond is back on skates now, no practicing, just skating. It will still probably be another
month or two before we see him back on the team, but he is improving all the time.

Not sure where he will fit in when he returns, but if HE brings that great skating back with him, i'm
sure there will be a spot for him, but maybe not on the second line.

next game is Tuesday in Edmonton, then Wednesday at home against St. Louis

GO CANUCKS GO

The new player, david booth #7, practiced today on the second line, with kesler and higgins.

cody hodgson is now centering the 3d line with malhotra and hanson
