Not to nitpick, but shouldn't the name Peanut Oil be enough to inform consumers that there are peanuts in it? Without any kind of extra warning labels or signs I mean.

I have the same concern when I buy a bag of peanuts, especially the stuff from the bulk-bins. There really ought to be a warning that bag of peanuts that I am getting does in fact have actual peanuts within.

Nanny state socialism strikes again. No ned to think for yourselves folks we will tell you what is best for you.

I actually agree that it's silly to ban a substitute they're not even allergic to. That said, we can't assume the state is absolutely evil. For example, would you propose eliminating all traffic rules, and cease from building and maintaining any more roads and let people deal with it themselves just to fight against the "nanny state". Take empty rhetoric to the extreme and that's the kind of muddled logic you get.

Years ago when we bought our first Fondue cooker. What I'm talking about is the pot of oil sitting over an
alcohol burner. Everyone has a long fork to stab pieces of prime beef and cook them in the hot oil.
After all this, the oil that was recommended, was peanut oil. We bought the peanut oil at the local
supermarket and it never had any kind of warning on the bottle. I think the grocery stores still sell
peanut oil and there is still no warning.

what warning should there be?

What does this post mean? You say that when you buy a bag of peanuts - especially from bulk foods- there ought to be a warning that the bag of peanuts actually contains peanuts?
Is there some chance you are suggesting that when you buy a bag of NUTS from bulk foods or where ever, the label should say whether or not that bag contains peanuts in it? Because, if you are not saying that, then I cannot understand why you would buy a bag of peanuts and expect the bag to say it contains peanuts. Almost any packaged food you buy (with bulk foods being an exception) has a label warning people that the product may contain traces of nuts and/or peanuts unless there is no possibility that it could contain them.

He was being sarcastic. It's obvious when you buy peanuts or peanut oil they are going to be hazzardous to some. It's like putting a warning label on glue "this product may cause things to stick together, if you do not wish to stick things together don't use this product".

Yes. Sometimes when one puts sarcasm and text together, one ends up with "sar-chasm".

That's cheesy, I know, but I like it! :)

Anyone with a finger-wart for a brain would see how it would be possible to decontaminate the toxic protein from peanut-butter like it's possible to decaffeinate coffee.

Oh, I forgot for a second that MBAs are in charge. I take that back.
