The best course of action for the NDP is to find a strong new leader and build on the legacy of Jack Layton has left them.

I completely agree but I also can sympathize with those who appreciate how difficult it can be to find the right leader. After Ed Broadbent, it took a while to find Jack Layton, and the NDP suffered a bit in the interim. The Liberals haven't had a strong leader after Chretien and it exacerbates their struggles (and even Chretien's success was more about first the anti-Mulroney backlash and then the division of the center-right) . The Conservatives haven't had a strong leader since Mulroney: Manning when he was head of the Reformers and Harper have had successes but they haven't been "the guy" to capture the imagination of the general public and sell the country on their party... mind you, the last guy to really do that was Trudeau and he was the most divisive PM in history, so maybe we don't want to go down that road...

Are we looking for the perfect politician? Don't think we want that either.
