You two guys are so logical, correct, proper, and wrong. Countries ignore many things that do not go with its cultural flow. You can see the trees but not the forest. It's why we let Quebec pave over the Plains of Abraham, the huge victory of 1759 that determined our fate and made us British and not French. Who cares, and we're not British any more, and there was no Canada in 1759 so it fades away, it no longer has any meaning to us. Call it cultural amnesia/censorship.

All of that stuff is well known historical fact and is taught in schools. Paving over something doesnt change what happened. Look at their license plates "Je me souviens". I'm pretty sure thats in reference to the Plains of Abraham.

Losers tend to remember history better. Look at the Irish.

Those who speak French in Quebec are a little different and they have a different history. It's another solitude. Just like many Canadians these days can't relate to things British in our history. Another solitude perhaps.

Ummm, Upon careful reflection, I am thinking that only ex-military personnel should be able to hold a Fed Gov office of Minister.

And certainly Prime Minister !!!

"Upon careful reflection", are you serious?

Sounds like you would like to live in a country like Egypt where the military has run the country for the last 40 years.

So Harper wouldn't qualify for PM under your system?

Upon careful reflection, it appears that you talk to yourself.

The Japanese don't seem to remember WW2 all that well. At least not about the atrocities they themselves committed.

The US seems to have forgotten the outcome of Vietnam.

Saddam Hussein declared himself the winner of the first Gulf War.

Also I'd say the Irish ultimately won. They're independent now, have been for a long time. Even though they are broke.

In most jobs, in most parts of the world, knowledge of history is not a requirment. People and nations like to rewrite history to suit themselves, it's all about winning. Americans like to say lately that all they need to do is go home from any conflict and declare victory.
