Yes, I thought Jacob's comment was way worse than anything James has done.

Amazon posted a snippet of The Last Goodbye (I'll call TLG from now on!!), but they took it down already I believe. I grabbed a MP3 on twitter to hear it (yay for fans who make MP3s out of anything!) and I was pretty relieved to see that I like what I hear. It's kind of a more poppy song that a full-on rock song. I'm glad that it doesn't seem to be a generic Nickelback type rock song.

James is the one that already thinks he's the rock star and his behaviour shows it every week but this week it was worst. He tweeted "I ASKED for Zakk Wylde to play". I've never seen any other Idol contestant who demands to perform with a famous musician during the competition.

Aw, Paul. I hope he at least gets a chance to rest his voice before the Idol tour. At least, he made me smile once again with his final Maggie May.

But, I'm so glad that it wasn't Haley! That duet between her and Casey? WOW! I was totally blown away, it was spectacular. Couldn't they sell that instead of their individual songs? I would totally buy it. #gohaleygo

Also, Scotty and Lauren singing together makes them both more appealing, they're adorable together. Can't they perform as a duet until the end of the season?

I love Kelly and she looked beautiful tonight (she sometimes makes weird clothing/hair choices!). I liked the song okay, but Jason Aldean's voice is just not my cup of tea.

I was going to fast-forward Rhianna, but I discovered tonight that the girl can actually sing okay. Better than what I was expecting anyway. And I had a bad case of dress-envy, it was really a gorgeous dress!

I havn't known one person Kris has been writing with. I sometimes wonder if Kris is getting the low-budget collaborators, this time around. Well, I think he is, actually. I just wonder if they can make big hits.

Just because we haven't heard of them doesn't mean they haven't had hits .. Or they don't have some skill set that would compliment Kris's. I actually like that we're getting some peeps that aren't the usual peeps. But yes I do get where you're coming from. I live in that same world. ;)

BTW, I think Jimmy Iovine pushing people to think about winning all the time is kind of scary in his intensity. I don't think I'd enjoy working with him.

Pretty sure that's the entire music industry. I always think of Pink's lyric about LA Reid. "LA told me, you'll be a pop star all you have to do is change everything you are" I think there is a lot of pushing and pulling happening always in the music industry, and it doesn't matter how big a star you are.

Another new picture of David (this one is for sure coming from the album photo shoot)... and this one I like a lot!

David's looking very well groomed there. Very high hair! :) I like it!

wat, how hasn't she been discovered by a major record company yet? amazing stuff

She probably wants to start small. Go indie.

Asking isn't demanding though. AI could have said no, and arguably should have said no. But if you can ask and get it -- why not ask? Plus it looks like James kind set it up himself through contacts he made while on the show. Becoming friends with Chris Jericho.. I look at it like Adam knew to ask for good lighting and lasers, James asked for Zakk Wylde. AI should have squashed it though. Kind of unfair IMHO. James is like a big goofy puppy to me. He's all enthusiasim and act first think later. I don't sense any malice in him.

Aw, Paul. I hope he at least gets a chance to rest his voice before the Idol tour. At least, he made me smile once again with his final Maggie May.

Yeah I was sad to see him go too :( (even tho I absolutely HATED last night, lol) He was my first fave and he'll be missed, he's also a fun guy to have around, I think they'll all miss him.

OMG YES!!! Wasn't that amazing?!? I was BLOWN. AWAY. I thought Lauren and Scotty were good too (and yes their duets are fantastic) but Haley and Casey.. EEP! The boys were .. not spectacular, but much better than their last attempt at a band. But Casey and Haley? LOVED. I WANT.

Now off to listen to David Cook snippit...

It sounds like David Cook!!! LOL :) Strong, distinctive voice. I can't tell much more than that from the short clip.

Oh, and Kelly was great on Idol (so was Rhianna - like the Rhianna I remember from when she first started out that just sang well) Jason Aldean didn't have eyes though, I wanted to push his hat up. :) :)

I missed the show, tonight. Paul was eliminated? It's an IDOL OUTRAGE! America should feel GUILTY! The JUDGES SHOULD BE SHOT!

I hope he at least gets a chance to rest his voice before the Idol tour.

It might help, but supposedly he has nodes on his vocal chords, so he'll need to get them removed - and I don't know if he has time to do that and recuperate before the tour. I have no idea - probably not.

Also, Scotty and Lauren singing together makes them both more appealing, they're adorable together.

Okay, like I said I didn't see it - but since these two already sang together, I might prefer to see them do something different with other people.

I'd love to be able to listen to the whole song right away. I hate this step by step thing, Lyrics first (and even then we had the lyrics from the chorus, then the complete lyrircs), then snippet, then the song. Just put the song up sowewhere for streaming, damn it!

Three years after his Idol season during which I completely fell for him, what remains with me the most about David is not the quality of his music (because frankly, my tastes have evolved a lot in the last few years and I do find David a bit generic-sounding... I've discussed here before my fears of not liking his second album) or his looks or whatever else, it's THE VOICE. Gah, that man can sing!

Jason Aldean didn't have eyes though, I wanted to push his hat up.

Maybe he can see through his hat?

No. Because then we would have missed the Casey Haley duet, which was magic. (ok, ok I did think the same thing when they first came out - but they really did sound great together).

Yeah, he really can.

Yes, me too, but it was a really good duet once again and I prefer Scotty and Lauren together than say Scotty and Jacob? That would be nightmare inducing.

And if they want to pair Haley and Casey together for the rest of the season, I'm completely all right with that!

I think we're talking about different things, maybe. Maybe you remember how Kris said he didn't think about winning the show, just doing the best performances he could that represented himself the best. Some of those performances were intimate, and some were simple. I haven't seen much intimacy or much simplicity this season - maybe because you don't think about those things when every performance has to be a show-stopper. The funny thing is, something like She Works Hard For The Money was a show-stopper. On the other hand, how many moments has this cast had? I just think you should ignore people ranting at you about how important it is to win - and just be yourself and relax and give good performances. That's really the way to win. Artists aren't racehorces.

I thought what Stefano did after Jimmy Iovine's pep talk was bad. Maybe he would have done that, anyway - but all the kid needs to do is sit and sing some intimate song, react to what he's singing, think about putting the lyrics across - to be good. Instead, it's all this "look how hard I'm pushing" stuff. It's supposed to seem impressive - it's such hard work. It looks like someone who's dying to win. But that's not a good performance, imho.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they shouldn't strategize, plan their performances, think about how best to impress. But they have to forget all that when they perform. Or rehearse, for that matter. The performance is separate from all that.

Okay yeah we're talking about different things I think. I agree with your thoughts on Stefano just reacting to what he's singing, and simplicity.

I was thinking about Jimmy telling Stefano that he's got to go into it with the mindset that he can win, and not sing to make the tour, or come in 4th. I think doing a song that's intimate and beautiful can be that. It can be a show stopper. I agree you don't need to be over the top to wow people. To be honest I feel like Jimmy with Stefano. I know he's got a great voice, I heard it on wildcard night, but he's not using his skills the way I want him to.

Agreed.

Oh, now you've made me go watch them again... and again... and again. Haley sounds so good. SO freakin' good!

I keepvid'ed that sucker! ;) (speaking of moments..that was one)

Well, that's kind of what I'm saying, too. I don't think he's getting good advice. Maybe Jimmy made sense but I just was reacting more to his tone. It's weird but some artists like to be challenged, and they do well with that, and some like to be nurtured and encouraged. It's funny but in theatre I've seen both strategies work - or backfire. I don't think Jimmy is the most sensitive mentor, I guess. You have to know who you're talking to. Some plants you yell at, they die.

Do you guys think I would have liked the Casey-Haley duet? Even though I can't stand either of them? Is it a requisite for enjoying it that you need to be able to stand them? lol

Um, so Paul, the WGWG, was eliminated. So maybe it takes more than being a cute, white, guitar playing, Southern male to stay in the competition, huh?

Hard to tell. Casey was singing on key though so that should help! And Haley really sounded awesome. Better than I've heard her so far I believe. Lots of nuances. They both growl quite a bit though. Oh, and they scat towards the end, one after the other, I love that part!

Casey is also looking at Haley with little hearts in his eyes. I don't know if there's some truth to the rumor that they are an item, but Casey certainly likes himself some Haley!

My computer in work is one of those old, white Dell computers - it has Windows 2000 on it. I can't watch anything - all it does is stop and start. I have to let a video play all the way through, once, which takes forever - then, after it has buffered, I can usually watch it - if I have the time! lol

(I sometimes find other computers to use, though.)
