The best curlers in the world are gathered in Regina this week to take part in the Ford Men's World Championship. Jeff Stoughton's rink out of Manitoba won the Brier and the right to be named Team Canada. They were outstanding at the Brier and each team member played well into the 80+ percentage throughout the tourney.

Team Canada is taking on Team Switzerland right now and judging by this first end, it is going to be a dandy game. The ice is rock hard with lots of pebble making for straight shots with great finish. Jeff had the hammer in this first end but lost out on a two point score when a tie was declared for second shot. None of the commentators could remember the last time this has happened. Good end for both teams. Team Canada: 1 - 0 after first end of play.

GO, TEAM CANADA, GO!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh that explains the extra people out lastnight. We had a hard time finding somewhere to eat last night at the spur ofthe "I don't feel like cooking" moment.

Not surprised to hear that, petros. Besides the teams and many of the their families, there are team supporters from all over the world invading Regina right now.

Jeff's team won their first game today with a steal of two in the ninth and a handshake with the Swiss skip. Canada played well through the majority of ends. The team was able to execute plays that even if the rock missed, the final placement was often in Canada's favor. Final score was 8 to 4 for Canada. GO, TEAM CANADA, GO! :canada:

Team Canada has advanced to the final round of play for the Gold Medal on Sunday after winning all but one of their games. Their only loss during round robin play came at the hands of Norway who were in a do or die situation and managed to steal one in the final end of play for the win.

Yesterday, Canada played Scotland and though they had some rough ends and missed plays, they were able to pull out the win by running Scotland out of rocks in the 10th end of play.

GO, TEAM CANADA, GO! :canada:
