Burning rigs down doesn't count as damaged oil infrastructure?
Picky picky,,,, hmmmmm this is, this isn't,,,ho hum !!
Burning rigs down doesn't count as damaged oil infrastructure?
I guess it might, if we had the details.
Great now let's see the United Nations enforce it..
Hmm maybe I should have said NATO since they're more reliable..By UN you really mean US, Brit and France. Arab
Great now let's see the United Nations enforce it..
One issue of enforcing it is Libya's sam sites and the best possible way to deal with them is using Predator strike drones..
If we are destined to fight in/over Libya with the U.N., we have to be best pals. We should have just left the solution to Great Briton, France and the Arab League. Lets just hope the fighting ends quickly.
Of course Europe wants its oil, and we do not want them getting it from our sources. No one should have gotten involved except maybe the Arab league.
You do know why the West was bound to get involved right.
It's not rocket science, it's almost always why they get involved.
A no fly zone would have been more useful for the rebels soon after the conflict started. Instead the UN waited until government forces crushed rebel opposition. The timing only makes sense if the intent is invasion/occupation. It wouldn't surprise me to find out NATO already has elite ground forces in Libya for recon and to coordinate the bombing.
No one should have gotten involved except maybe the Arab league.
You do know why the West was bound to get involved right.

" entanglement ",,,, splain ??The west was involved the minute Libya let them invest in their oil exploration and ship people over there to work. With the profit comes the entanglement.
Of course Europe wants its oil, and we do not want them getting it from our sources.
You need it because you use too much of it......people die for it....it costs you billions in offense for it....it's sucking you dry.
You give more money in oil subsidies than you do in R&D for alternative energy.
When the profitability fades away, they'll move on to the alternative energy. Right now though the tax payers absorb so much of the cost via 'defense' budgets that it has yet to eat into the profitability for the oil companies. One day that defense budget will dry up though. It'll mean a major shift in the global structure... scary to think.
The People had their say - and they made Daffy duck for cover - by their own effort. Now is the right time to follow their lead and help to evict a tyrant.
I notice Kadaffy got his bombing done and then he declared a cease fire. I wonder if the rebels
were provided with a few stingers.
...Really? The news so far has been that Britain and France will take the lead on this, the U.S. role will be logistical.
"...will take the lead...? That doesn't mean anything.
The war against Serbia showed that there was only one air force in NATO capable of doing the heavy lifting. This operation has no end game. It will go on and on whether America provides only logistics or puts bombs on target. This operation will be a bleeding wound for Prince Hamlet, America's beloved leader.
