As a licensed professional, my provincial association can kick me out for having a criminal conviction.

Sports figures are not licensed.

Not only that, but a sports team is not required to hire convicted felons, although they don't seem to have any qualms about doing so. To me, it shows what the team owners are made of.

As I said, the leagues don't want to get rid of these guys...especially if they can win.

Everybody is happy to excuse violent nasty criminals.

Not everybody. Some people just believe the matter is for the courts to decide...or in the matter of Tiger Woods, it was between him and his wife and him and his sponsors.

They are, however, members of a professional organization (union), which sets the rules by which they are to behave.
