Just wondering ... How nice is Calgary AB ? I'am thinking of going off to school down there and i wanna make sure it nice and pretty safe ( i Know every city has some Crime )! And once i'am done school Iam hopefully going to move more towords the beautiful mountians , and have a horse ranch !:lol:

Please Help me make up my mide on weather i should go to Calgary AB or stay in Ontario ?

I think it depends on what you want to study. If the best faculty for your chosen career is offered in Calgary, then you should study in Calgary, but if the best program is offered in Ontario, you should study in Ontario. I would use that as a basis for choosing a university, college, or polytechnic, not whether the city is nice and safe. All Canadian cities are relatively safe if you make good choices.

I know Calgary fairly well, and think it is one of the better large cities. Lots of open space and pathways and traffic is better than many big cities- drivers however tend to be a little ignorant. Very poor at yielding the right of way. Weather is quite variable, sometimes you can sit on the deck in your T-shirt on Xmas Day and other times you are shovelling snow in June and Sept. but severe weather doesn't normally set in before late November. Not too good if you are into gardening due to the high elevation (3500'). Generally plenty of sunshine.

If you like bugs and really cold weather in the winter like minus 50 degree Celsius on a warm winter day and if you don’t mind blowing chunks because it’s so dry it’s a great place to live.

I would suggest you redo your language arts classes before you even consider moving anywhere for post secondary.

Calgary does have the occasional red-neck hillbilly that probably prefers goats to humans ... I encountered two this afternoon. I was at the gasbar, just pulling forward when this monster truck swerved in front of me and parked at the stall in front. As I pulled around them and drove away, one of these thugs mouthed FU to me. I was then in the nearby grocery store picking up weekly supplies when my son pointed out that the brain damaged morons were walking the isles ... stopping when they spotted us. I joked that they were probably going to key my vehicle. When we returned to the parking lot, my son - apparently curious - went straight to the drivers side to check. Guess what ... there's a scratch all down the side of my car. Since I bought it new, I'm observant of any bumps and scratches, so this definitely occurred while I was at the grocer.

These mentally defective turds that keyed my car are most likely on leave from the Fort McMurray rigs, and are looking to release the frustrations of their pathetics lives.

That experience is probably more common in places like Edmonton and Calgary than most cities ... at least I hope the country is not populated with people like this, people that should be converted to soylent green and fed to the pigs.

Sorry for sounding severe, but I don't believe people from Ft. Mac. are any more or less considerate than any other location or occupation. If you'd have said from Fort Saskatchewan I probably wouldn't have objected. (The prison is still there isn't it?)

Actually, you're probably right. I took too long to pay for my gas - which of course is my fault and not a function of the gas station, and I looked at the guy like he was a jerk when he swerved in front of me at the gasbar. Both of these actions constitute despicable behavior on my behalf, and give everyone the right to key my car.

You're right, I'm wrong. I'll be more careful to speed up my gas paying in the future, and to cower before bullies. Got it. Thanks for the great perspective.
